  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wow. It must have been interesting putting yourself in that frame of mind as a mourner of Christ, literally near the cross as it was happening.

Yup it was and I nearly cried for real.

That sounds pretty cool. I like church plays.

The church I go to did one called "The Twelve Voices of Easter" tonight. It was pretty good. It was like a testimonial from twelve different people who were involved in the trial, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. It put a human face on some of the people who were involved, and related some of the things that they faced to things that people face everyday.

That's the first Good Friday service I've been to in a while.

That sounds really cool.

Awesome!

For years and years my home church put on an annual Easter program/play. It was actually pretty darn good. A couple years before we stopped doing it (or at least not on the grand scale we were used to) I was able to be in it playing something other than an extra, lol. I played the adulterous woman that the Pharisees are about to stone... :sorry::D:p:o

Thanks and that is great.

Sometimes I wonder if deep down I'm an extrovert. When I was a kid, around the right kinds of people I was much more outspoken than I am now. I could make my friends laugh easily. Now I keep to myself more. I've been trying to be more open with people but I find it harder than it was when I was younger.

It's because children are simply not 'aware' as much. As you grow older you become more conscious of yourself and your own personality, and ultimately start wondering and worrying about what others are thinking about you and whatnot. So you become more 'selective' with what you say, how you say it, when you say it, and who you say it to...

Introverts are the most extroverted people on earth...in their minds. Maybe this is what you're feeling.

The King's Agent or something like that. I don't remember the title and haven't summoned the motivation to actually get out of the chair and go get it. Getting ready for bed takes so much work!

I didn't notice it so much before 9/11 (I had just become a Christian in 2000), but afterwards I did. War has a way of complicating things, I guess. I do feel like the Churches I've been to recently are much different, and it isn't so prevalent.

The political arena seems like a different matter, however, and I think the polarization it caused is still affecting us today. And it doesn't help that the media feeds it as well. Whatever they can do to get ratings, I guess.

It was around 2000 that I was experiencing my last ditch efforts to remain within Christianity. Politics is definitely as polarized as it was then, if not more so, but it doesn't seem to be as closely in bed with churches (especially evangelical Christian churches) as it was then. Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope not as I find religion and politics being distant from each other to be a good thing.

I'm chatty tonight, but no one wants to chat :( lol

At the time when you wanted to chat I was chatting with two of my friends while preparing a giant mega batch of chili at their house.

In unrelated thoughts, I've never liked racist jokes. I usually can find humor in anything (even things that are awful), but I just don't like racist humor.

I like racist jokes, as long as they're not used a shield to spread real bigotry and hatred.

Black/dark humor is very important IMO, especially the ability to be able to laugh at yourself.

That's exactly how I feel! I never thought of it that way before. Makes perfect sense. I think if I didn't care what people thought and wasn't so self conscious, I'd definitely be more extroverted.

I knew you were crazy. Here is how I know. You have a fascination with owls and the internet gives the scoop on fun facts about them.

*The color of owl’s feathers helps them blend into their environment (camouflage). You've done this wonderfully here at CF
*Owls are active at night (nocturnal). You night poster, you.
*Owls are farsighted, meaning they can’t see things close to their eyes clearly. You wear glasses, don't you?
*Owls are very quiet in flight compared to other birds of prey. You set the sails. He readies the seas.
