What happened to truth..
The Renaissance..the birth of humanism. It switched positions for God and man; instead of God being the measure of all things, man became the measure. The humanist were sure that man could solve every problem.
For awhile these "learned thinkers" attempted to deliver the truth, and yet the truth-the truth without God, remained elusive.
In time people came to the conclusion that there is no truth.
Modern man, whether he realizes it or not, is governed in large measure by this pessimism about truth..
Postmodernism, belief that there are no absolutes, including truth. People construct their on "stories" or narratives, what is true for one person might not be true for another.
Now truth is relative to each person.
This is exemplified in today's dismissive, "Whatever."
People don't care about anything so long as it does not hurt them or personally affect them.
When asked, "Is something true?" they respond, "Whatever!"

What are your thoughts?
A Christian's truth is Jesus. The world makes up its own truth..which changes constantly

Learn the thoughts of Jesus, to have Jesus' thoughts.
The Truth came into the world, to save the world, and the world hated the Truth because the world's deeds are evil.

Modern Americans are often "postmodern", rejecting the concept that there is global truth. But look into this, and it is a merely surface jargon.

Younger Americans seem committed to the idea that they need to change the world. You can't argue this, unless you argue that there are global truths, that we ought to respect.

Younger Americans argue that there are "human rights". But you can't argue this, unless you accept that there are global truths.

Younger Americans argue that there should be "justice". But you can't argue this, unless you accept that there are global virtues and vices. and that these ought to be built into a fair rule of law. and that this fair rule of law describes what "justice" is.

The more you go down the path of "there is no global truth", the more you have to say that the younger American generations are living in an unreal utopia, that has no reality.

The ancient philosophers, and the historic Christian thinkers, took a very different path.
They argued that there is a shared reality. And global virtues and vices.
And global concepts of what a fair rule of law should be. And justice.

It may help, starting out, to assume that some basic shared reality exists. Without this assumption, there is no basis to "discuss" the question of whether truth exists, or not. At least, learn the historic models of truth. Then you will have some intelligent material to discuss (than "Whatever").
