But we are allowed to question. It creeps me out how some act as if that is not allowed.

I agree with you

but I see it as kind of a backlash to how this forum can kind of be sometimes

there always seems to be a lot of criticism for things that are traditionally Catholic
any talk of Pope John Paul II brings up "well he should have done more about the sex abuse crisis, he was too rough on Catholic intellectuals, he should have been more inclusive to women"
and a similar laundry list of complaints when any Catholic figure is brought up
Pope Benedict XVI, St. Junipero Serra, Mother Teresa,
the list goes on about EVERYTHING

like every time devotion to the Blessed Mother is brought up at least one or two people feel the need to "warn" us not to go overboard
and several times very disparaging comments have been made about Latin American and Filipino Catholics and their devotion to the Blessed Mother that have sounded almost racist

like we are never allowed to just be happy Catholics

I am proud to be Catholic, I am proud of my Church

We are allowed to question under obedience. It was one of the first things I learned when I was converting. We give the Pope respect due to him but we should not deify him.
I have no clue - questions?
His teachings vs his opinions?

What you say about Marian devotions is spot on.
It seems as if some of us have been influenced quite heavily by protestants when it comes to veneration in general and maybe most of all the Blessed Virgin Mary.

When will people come to understand that Mary always points towards Christ?

She got me back to Christ. ;)

Our Lady of Guadalupe to be exact.

I agree with that
but it seems like MANY do not just have questions and struggles about the faith, but see that as a sign of being Enlightened
like it is BETTER not to be conformed to the Church
others openly disparage many Catholic teachings and traditions

Personally I love Mary, God chose her to deliver his only begotten Son God with us.

I do have a question:
I cannot find in my Bible where she was translated to Heaven, joined with God the Father and Christ the Son.
Nor can I find where she was crowned Queen of Heaven.

I do know our Bibles are different, can any one give me a passage from the Catholic version that I may reconcile this?

good word usage "translated to Heaven"
most Catholics would not be familiar with that term, we normally use the term "assumed into heaven"
though "translated" would be the term used by scholars of comparative religions I believe?

anyways, it is not directly stated in the Bible
I would say that the book of Revelations points to Mary being taken up into Heaven
there is "the Woman" of Revelation 12, some people think that Woman is a reference to nation of Israel, but that does not really fit the rest of the narrative of that chapter.
for example, the Woman gives birth to a Child and there is the Red Dragon and Michael

ok well the Child is Jesus, the Red Dragon is the Devil, and Michael is Michael..... so each of the other figures represent individuals, not entire nations, not vague concepts, but individuals
so it makes sense that the Woman who is crowned and put above the moon is Mary

so this is not directly stated in the Bible
but it has been a teaching of the Church from early times

also, being taken up into heaven is VERY uncommon, but it is not unprecedented
we have Enoch and Elijah as examples of God doing that for His servants

O i understand.
All she is saying, you can chill here [i suspect] so long as you don't berate on these Good People.
Some vicious things are often said against them.

Christians dont usually attack Jesus. SO that's a given. :p

I might be wrong, i'm only guessing if i understand bene.
Im just usually guessing a lot of things by what i sense.

Who knows if i'm right or wrong on how it is really is?
I can only sense feelings.
:D
you are absolutely right. anyone who does know me from being around these parts knows these are my soft spots. There's so many new folk here, I thought we should clear up a few things and get a few things straight. You don't come for these. and yeah, often ppl wanna come for them.
