Caiaphas et al. plotted to arrest Jesus, but they didn't want to do it during the Passover (Mt 26:5). Then, Judas made a deal with the chief priests to betray Jesus to them (v 15).

Jesus interacted with Judas during the Last Supper in (ESV) John 13:

27 Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”

Jesus seemed to have known Caiaphas' secret plan. The timing of the arrest was not up to them. Jesus chose it.

30 Therefore having received the morsel, he went out immediately. And it was night.
Judas went to the chief priests to get a party force to formally arrest Jesus during the Passover, sooner than they planned.
