Biblical truth will never change. It's just true. But how we communicate that should always be changing in order to reach an ever changing culture. Worship, gather times, small groups, teaching style, the look and feel of a building, etc should always be changing to reach a changing demographic.

What do you think should change in the church in America? What shouldn't change?

The look and feel of the building. 99% of church design is simply because that's what churches are supposed to look like. Virtually no thought is put into usage and function. In my opinion you could have a much better church if your design team forgot what churches are supposed to look like and design it according to how you are going to use it. I even hate "the stage". Putting a group of people up high and in front while everyone else is in a spectator position. I'd make the room circular with a slightly raised circular platform in the middle. That way it would be more like a town hall meeting than some sort of creepy preacher worship sort of thing. You would not believe how many great ideas never happen at my church simply because the building wasn't built with function in mind.

And a fireplace on the wall. Why do churches not have fire places?

and a coffee bar. I know this is the flesh but still...

For our lyrics to not be about us but a lot more Yahweh centered.

That's why most religious Christmas music is so awesome. It primarily puts our focus on Yeshua. It would be great if it was that way the rest of the year.

Personally, I want churches to stop fighting and disagreeing. The basics of what we believe are the same. Jesus was the Son of God who came to die for our sins and was raised from the dead on the third day.

There was a lot of war and persecution during the protestant reformation, and there still is. But next to our enemies from the secular realm, those problems are now trivial by comparison. If the church doesn't unite and stand up against them, Christianity might cease to be tolerated.

I'd like to see:

- Asking more questions before giving out judgments.
- Fewer "one size fits all" approaches to dealing with specific issues. The Bible covers a lot, but it also allows freedom in many approaches to specific situations. The person you are ministering to may need something that is within Biblical limits but outside of the model you are familiar with.
- Better vetting of information, particularly when preaching. If you're going to use news and statistics to address a point, be responsible with that information and verify what you're going to say first. If you can't verify it, add a disclaimer or reconsider using it entirely.
- Don't go out of your way to use clips from secular media as part of the sermon. It can be beneficial, but it is very easy to overdo. If relating the point can be done effectively without the clip, don't use it.
- Lead us in songs about God, rather than how the songwriter feels about God or walking with God.
- Better integrating of young single adults, in college or out of college. Regular service opportunities that they can make could be key here.
- More people following Jesus' teachings because they're Christians, even if the law does not force them to. Especially in terms of divorce and fornication, these are clear sins that are too common in the church.

God only requires that we find the biblical Church as He set forth, and not the religious sects men have formed ---and continue to do every year. I find the site at biblecounsel.net to endeavor to set forth what God intends for His testimony in the world. That speaks of Bible-only for the New Testament Church.

I had led worship for some years. I had helped a few become worship leaders. One night during late 1999, God told me He loved me with an everlasting love. Another time He told me He would never leave me nor forsake me. Awhile later He told me that I'd been faithful with little and now He was going to give me more. I was excited to learn what this meant. One day I was reading Ezekiel 10 and it struck fear in me. It couldn't mean me. In February, 2000 it was like a bomb went off in my life. For the sake of brevity, I'll leave that. I believe what God was doing with me is talked about in Isaiah 28 and in Ezekiel 13. I went to a 5 day retreat. My bad foundation was dealt with. I was taught about the human personality, how the enemy seeks to destroy us and what is God's solution to the problems. I spent days in the classroom and evenings were spent in my room, where God and I dealt with me. I dealt with generational sin, curses, deliverance and a lot of other stuff. I learned about my daily cross. During this time God taught me how to walk as a maturing disciple of Christ. I've been walking this walk for 16 years. So this is what maturity means to me. Peace.

During the earliest years of the church, Christianity was barely tolerated -- an understatement! -- but survived regardless. There is no possibility that the church, i.e., the worldwide body of Christ, will cease to be tolerated. Those who oppose the church oppose God and will pay the awful consequences. Those who remain faithful, and there will always be some, will be rewarded.

I'd like to see moats being used. It should be harder for the enemy to get inside.
