  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What would You do...poll [OPEN]

What would you do with a gift certificate?

  • Buy maternity clothes

  • Save it for a big item for baby (like a crib)

  • Something else I'm not thinking of...

All the mommies of my preschool kids got together and gave me a $90.00 gift certificate to a local mall for Christmas. Sooo generous! :swoon:
Anyway, I'm a little stumped on whether to go to Motherhood Maternity or keep it for when we need a crib or some other big baby item. What would you do? You have to pretend you are almost 14 wks, though. If you are at the very end of your pregnancy, obviously, you would save it for baby. ;)

Hmmm

my first thought was to save it and buy something for the baby as i assumed thats why you'd be given it.

However thinking about it you were given it because you are now pregnent. So i'm now thinking more along the lines of you buying yourself some nice maternity clothes.

This is your first right? So i say buy for yourself, you have the next 26 weeks ish to save up and buy things for the baby. And i am thinking also that you will more than likely get more presents etc when the baby is born/when you stop working.

Clothes.

You can hit the clearence racks and get stuff for your entire pregnancy. I spent $30 and walk out of there with 6-7 items and the way they are built, what fit me early second trimester expanded to fit me until almost 37 weeks...which after only DH's stuff fit.

You also have to think you need nice stuff to wear to work...nothing makes one feel quite so frumpy as her husband's tee shirt when she's up forty pounds.

This is very true; the spring clothes are all on sale right now. Presently,I have three shirts (one for much later) and three pairs of pants (one is summer weight). The gift was given to me for Christmas. Since this is my first year teaching, I have no idea if they would have done that if I wasn't pg or not? But the card didn't say anything about baby. I just don't want to get stuck in June needing some big baby item and instead having lots of awesome clothes. Ah, decisions, decisions.

I know I've already been informed by my baby's grandparents not to buy certain things, so my decision would be easy. :) I think I'd use it on some clothes and maybe some good pregnancy/parenting books.
