This is for all the people that believe in God because otherwise the answer is obvious:

Lets say you and your 9 year old niece are strolling through a house and someone comes into the house and grabs your niece and holds her with a gun to her head. The person then says, "Say you don't believe in God or else I'm going to kill this little girl."

Would you say you don't believe in God or would you refuse to say you don't?

That's stretching reality really far, but sure I would say I don't believe in god. That's not entirely inaccurate since I believe in many, but even if the demand was tailored to "Say you don't believe in any gods!", I'd still say it.

There's a chance it removes the girl from danger and I know my deities would not be offended, so there is nothing to lose and making the statement harms no one. I suspect a spirtiual beating if I said otherwise, actually. On my path there are certain occasions when lying is acceptable.

Posed another way, you wish to know if I would renege my faith in Christ, the answer is no.

I would say I don't. If I refuse to say I don't for personal pride or integrity that is selfish, and God is above being insulted and understands the circumstances if I say "No." The only way to loose is to say that you do, directly causing someone else to being shot - which you are responsible for.
