the bible pretty much says that those that follow Christ will be persecuted.. slander falls into this..
unless of course they are really truths we are hearing about ourselves.. then it isn't persecution.. it is more of a sign that we should be should be more disiplined in our following in the footsteps of Christ..
no matter what grouping these so called slanders fall into.. the solution rests in our own actions and words..
if it is persecution, then rejoice, that you are suffering in the name of the Lord.. if it is because of your own bad choices, then make the necessary changes..

I don't understand, are you saying that sometimes we might think someone is slandering us, but what they are really doing is going around telling "truth" about us, "truth" we don't want to hear or acknowledge?

for example " so and so is real jerk" ( assume that is true)?

or are you saying that the person could be lying about us, but we have actually done something to provoke it?

God knows everything and He will deal with that. Maybe not in your time and will. He will do what is right, as He always does. Slandering is a great sin and it has terrible consequences in the life of the ones who commit it, read Proverbs. All you can do is forgiving, praying and not reacting. Give it all in His hands.

I know it's hard. But you will come at a point where you don't care anymore. And they will have to deal with their sin, like anybody here on this earth.

one of the most difficult things to remember as a Christian is that Jesus paid for the sins of the WHOLE world (1John 2:2) - not just the sins of people who have received spiritual rebirth. there's only one way you would expect God to 'stand up for you eventually and expose the slanderer as a liar she/he is' - you have lost sight of 1John 2:2, and are in judgment of those who persecute you. basically, you're expecting God to judge and punish them for their sins against you, because you've lost sight of how He did not judge and punish you for your sins against Him and others; in effect, you are asking God to not only judge them, but also judge you by the same standard - a standard no one except Jesus meets. don't worry, He isn't judging anyone for their 'sins' because from His perspective all 'sins' have been dealt with - people who go to hell don't go because of their 'sins', they go because of their choice to reject a relationship with God based exclusively on faith in His grace and exclusive of their own performance, good or bad.

I think you are being a bit extreme

yes, we shouldn't repay evil with evil

but you know, God is love, He is also righteousness.

neither aspects are meant to cancel each other out

let put this way, the world we live is evil. Strong prey on weak all the time , people with position and power take advantage of those who has less power than themselves. Can you imagine what happens if God is "just" like a kindly grandfather?

if God don't stand up for the weak, than who will?

I've been through this type of thing when I lived in North Carolina, I didn't have the means
to seek legal action nor did I have any feeling that the Lord wanted me to do that either.
I trusted God to take care of everything.

Did my persecutors ever apologize? It hasn't happen yet.
Was my reputation restored in the workplaces? No.
Did the Lord re-establish me and give me a better future
and deepen my faith walk with Him? Absolutely!

the person who does this is a family member (extended family I guess), and people she does this to aren't really people I care about ( though they are tied to me by blood as well)

she does this for a long time, and no, she is the kind of person would laugh at me

anyway, I have calmed down since I posted this thread

I realized as far as family is concerned, they are my parents and my sister and my nephew, and none of them would listen to anything she has to say

and that enough for me
