Again, when we put words in God's mouth or ascribe things to Him that He did not say, that's putting our own will and imagination over His word. Thus, an idol.
I think we have different ideas of idol here, I'm intrigued as to how you associate words with idols? If we take God out of this and insert say... Frank,.. does hypothetically talking about what frank might say to me if i step on his toe make him my new false idol?
I think you missed the joke, I'm Christian I'm also English and sleep deprived. So, if you're not a Christian, why do you have a Christian icon?
well, Jesus isn't going to get far preaching to people in a bar by poking his head round the corner and shouting in at them will he.. >_>I see. So, how does Jesus eating with a tax collector equal Jesus sitting in a bar swilling beer?
depends on mood and situation, if I'm having a laugh, I'm more than happy to let God join in the fun. If I have serious chat, God is serious too.So then, you don't show God any reverence at all?
wine drinking and eating with tax collectors sort of is the support it requires some thinking and you have to turn one of the clues around a little. He didn't exactly make an effort of being away from the less desirable people.Show me just one thing in scripture that supports Jesus sitting in a bar drinking beer.
not recently enough to recite it word by word from the top of my head, does that make me a bad Christian?Have you ever even read this passage?
It can represent all it wants but since this isn't a parable he still made wine for pished party goers.Do you understand why He was there? Do you understand why He made the wine? Do you understand what the wine represented?
Oh I read it, I never said Jesus was drunk, now your putting words in my mouth, Stop idolizing me !! \o/ drinking dosen't equal drunk, I realize thats an alien concept in some places *cough*America*cough* but it is very possibleOr do you just say, "You know, I've never actually picked up a Bible, myself, but I did hear this story once about Jesus making wine. Therefore, Jesus must be a drunk"?
To each his own, thats the problem with writing things down really, people have this habit of reading them differently, messy business really. No, I'm sorry but that's just not what the Bible says.
11- thou shall not take the mickey out of Jesus? Is that one of the extra commands I didnt read again? The Bible tells us that when one is born again, He will show reverence for God and for His word, not make a joke out of them.
I really hate being called young, its a rather large blanket statement that suggests alot of things that I'm not. As to the culture depends which culture you think I grew up with, I was raised on a farm very self sufficient because of that. You're young, I understand. And in this culture (and on this message board), I understand that anybody can say that they're a Christian, whether they are or not, and it's fine.
Don't really care to be honest, because if I'm right and God is the big man he claims to be, he knows how to take a joke, If their right, Gods well abit of a pansy and childish. But the truth is, your mocking God says that you're not born again.
Do you know (or even care) about what the Bible says about those who mock God? Have you ever read Ps 1?
