What would have happened to Adam and Eve and Cain after death?

Genesis just talks about Adam and Eve facing death as a punishment for their sin. I was wondering what would have happened after that? Would they be resurrected and judged by Jesus? If they are saved I wonder what about Cain? Thanks.

There's this idea that before Jesus, everyone - saved or unsaved- went to Hades, basically you'd just rot forever, 'saved or not'. After Jesus' death & resurrection, those who were righteous, their spirits went to heaven.
I do not know what to think about that.
The emphasis is usually a lot in the Old Testament are saved. We do know that. Hebrews describes a great cloud of witnesses who are examples of the faith, including OT prophets. Abel is mentioned, not Cain. Adam is not mentioned, but few Christians will doubt Adam wasn't saved. Moses & Elijah also appear at the Transfiguration.
(I wonder if their appearance at the Transfiguration dismisses the Hades idea???)

When we die we go to sleep and remain asleep until the resurrection of the dead. When we sleep we are conscious of nothing until Christ wakes us up.

The Bible said, three days the gospel was proclaimed to people before Noah. So it means people from Adam till Noah are somehow subject to the New Covenant (the same covenant today's humans can have). We don't actually know the details of the part of the Covenant applicable to ancient humans before Noah. However, the Final Judgment of all mankind is a covenant-based but subjective judgment from a God who is absolutely fair and just. Jesus will provide a fair judgment under all circumstances, by evaluating all affecting factors including the judgment of minds and hearts.

As for the case of Cain, only Jesus knows how to judge, and to judge correctly.

Just for clarity, because I'm not sure how all the negatives in this phrase cancel out: Are you saying that most Christians think Adam was saved, or most Christians think Adam was not saved?

Every one in the OT was saved by the grace of God through faith just like in the NT. Example is Abraham. So if all three had faith then they are saved. God will know that not us.

They went to Sheol and now have been taken to heaven when Jesus was resurrected. They were taken by Jesus because they believed in Jesus for God's free gift of Eternal Life. Which is what they had to do, after they sinned because they lost their sinless status at the eating of the fruit.

In Genesis 2:7, we learn that man was formed from two elements, dust of the earth, and the breath of life from Jesus our creator, and man became a living soul/ person/being. Death is the the separation of these two elements. The body decays and returns to dust, and the breath of life/spirit returns to our God (see Ecclesiastes 12:7; James 2:26 and Job 27:3) Do souls die? Yes. (see Ezekiel 18:20, and Rev. 16:3) Do people go to heaven or hell at death? No. (see John 5:28,29; Acts 2:29,34; Job 17:13) How much does one comprehend at death? Nothing. (see Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10; Psalms 115:17) Can the dead communicate wth the living? No. (see Job 14:12,21; Ecclesiastes 9:6)


Jesus called the first death "sleep" (see John 11: 11-14) Therefore based on these few texts we all sleep in the first death, with no knowledge of what is going on. Latter we will be raised either in the first resurrection of the saints or the second resurrection of the lost, and receive our eternal rewards. A proper understanding of death magnifies the love of God.

Paul disagrees.
