  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You are aware that the same person could have written them about 300 years apart as well, are you not?

Sure, I am also aware that evidence is for the contrary as the writing styles and the stories they tell are different. Not to mention that nobody lives that long, not now, not ever.

Nothing makes me exempt and I never said that. I simply refuted yours and ED's claim that it is "easy to believe".

Why was the Gospel message easy for me to believe, then? why do children or aborigines have no problem with it?

In fact, as Gail Riplinger pointed out, the Gospel message is summed up in 19 one-syllable words ...

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Not to mention they are in different literary styles and quite possibly another culture altogether.

You seem to be having a problem with verb-tenses for some reason.

"Lives" or "lived"?

Adam lived to be 930 years old.

He could very-well have written G1 & G2 about 300 years apart -- during his youth.

Are you sure they're not different fonts as well?

"Lives" or "lived"?

My phrase is grammatically correct, but thanks for the grammar police.

Adam lived to be 930 years old.

Yeah, and why should I believe that?

He could very-well have written G1 & G2 about 300 years apart -- during his youth.

Only if he had two personalities and completely forgot about Genesis 1 when he wrote Genesis 2.

You do notice I'm ignoring this argument, don't you?

I'd hate to see you waste your time with unnecessary repetition.

They are not two separate creation accounts. Day 6 was very important as man was created then. Gen. 2 is a detailed account of day 6.

Genesis one has generalizations. An overview.

Really? Not even close. How about animals being created before Adam in Genesis 1 and after Adam in Genesis 2?

Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Now the Genesis 2 account:

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis2:18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Yeah, I know that he is wrong. I also know it is only "literal" when it agrees with your interpretation.
Oh, good.

I'm glad you said that.

Let's use another version, shall we?

Genesis 2:8 [NIV] Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.

Do you still say G1 & G2 are different?

Let's correct this too, since you're moaning about my KJV literalism.

Genesis 2:19 [NIV] Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky.

Still say there's a problem, Cab?

Sure you do.

You know why?

Your problem is a spiritual one, not a scientific one.

Unrelated verse of the day? I never mentioned plants.
