• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

My favorite (one to hate) is "Put a plug in the jug"

If I knew how to put a plug in the jug, I wouldn't need to sit around with a bunch of drunks. I needed to hear a solution. Thank goodness I found someone who showed me the solution.

This one really bugs me because it contradicts the big book. It implies we have the willpower to "put a plug in the jug".

But this is only my opinion.

"I must have had a blackout." (Used whenever the speaker can't remember something.)

"The elevator to sobriety is broken. You have to use the steps."

Numerous others, all situational. Nothing likely to make the Joke Hall of Fame.

I think they're so good because they're inside jokes which we all 'get' once we learn to laugh at ourselves.

Someone told me about 13 Steppers tonight. She told me how her father changed a bit of the words on the 12th Step, and I was cracking up the rest of the night.

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice (our penises) in all our affairs
