Democrats never claimed to be the party of morality and Biblical family values. Attempting to divert attention away from the hypocrisy of the Republicans is a VERY old and worn out tactic of the Far Right.
And Republicans have never used the “I’m voting for my pastor” litmus test either.

But I will go with your first statement.

I hope the answer you get is not “change the Bible.”

Hi RLH,

Odd you should say that. What in the world gives you the impression that anyone is ever going to 'change' the Scriptures. We're just all sinners, and my point is that apparently 59% of Republicans are willing, to some degree, to accept that the sin of abortion should be allowed in some instances.

The reasons I say that it's odd, is that there is a saying among many Trump supporters, when faced with some of the wickedness that Trump has practiced in his life and does still exemplify in his daily living, i.e. divorce, fornication, lying, name calling and general meanness, all of which God speaks against in the same Scriptures that you are apparently worried that some people might change because of the abortion issue, they will say that they voted for a president and not a pastor. If they didn't vote for a pastor, then why do these couple of specific sins that the evangelicals seem to get their panties in a wad over, even matter?

I mean, if someone is going to shake their fist at America and say we want a president that is against abortion and/or homosexuality because the bible says so...then why don't we also want a president that is against divorce, fornication, lying and mean temperament because the bible also speaks against those things as being sin? If a man divorces his wife, he causes her to become an adulterer. That means that Donald Trump has caused, in his lifetime, at least two women to become adulterers by divorcing them as his lawful wife. He also knowingly slept with the soon to be second wife while he was married to the first. The Revelation specifically speaks to the fact that no liar will enter God's eternal city. It says that in the very same sentence that it also says that neither shall a homosexual. So why all the noise on the homosexual part, but not the lying part? Pretty much everyone who has ever worked for Donald Trump admits that he lies. Even those who are still on good terms with him and even many who still work for him now. I can't imagine that there is any question in anyone's mind that Donald Trump had sexual relations with Marla Maples while still married to Ivana and I can't imagine that anyone can honestly say that Donald Trump isn't a liar

No one's going to ever change the Scriptures, but we're always going to be sinners and it isn't our job to rate some sins as worse than others. If we're going to condemn one for sin, then we have to condemn all for sin.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

The Democratic Party survived Bill Clinton.

HI RLH,

Yes, but President Clinton just had a sexual relationship while in office other than his wife. He didn't ruin dozens of international relations or get the country all riled up over race issues and mistreating people. I think there's a very large difference in the 'damage' that President Clinton may have done to the office of the president vs. President Trump.

And no one said that President Clinton was going to destroy the Democratic party. Sen. Graham is on record that if Donald Trump won the presidential nomination, he would destroy the Republican party even before he was elected.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

I will keep that in mind as I read your second paragraph again.

Hi RLH,

Yes, and according to President Trump's legal team, the reason they encouraged him not to give testimony before the Mueller investigation was because they didn't want to have to explain away his perjuries. So, according to them, the only reason we don't have President Trump guilty of the same sin is that he refused to give his testimony.

How long into the process are you going to hold out hope?
I never count out the Clinton family. They are very resilient politically.

Maybe they have shifted their focus to their daughter.

Bit of a forlorn hope for this election cycle.

If Trump is reelected I will drink heavily and weep bitterly. Last time it took two bottles of Kracken spiced 94 proof rum. I polished off one when the counting started, I had to call in because after he won finishing the second bottle was inevitable.

I don't usually like hard liqueur but that election called for an ample amount. Guess I was ok after a couple months when I realized he was incapable of doing much.

That night I wasn't mad at Trump, just keep thinking way to play to your base when you should have been courting the modetates. She goes on the scrapheap with Mondale and Dukakis. I was just disgusted with my party.

Simple question. Just curious of your thoughts.

Strap in for a bumpy ride...

But seriously, it depends a lot on what Congress looks like when the electoral dust settles.

If the Dems have two brain cells to rub together, they're going to use the impeachment as a rallying cry for their campaigns... "See! The GOP serves Donald; not you!"

If they do it right, they should be able to keep the House, and possibly take the Senate.

If that happens, Donald's impotent rage (remember how little he accomplished when his party controlled Congress) will be legendary... and amusing as all heck to watch.

Won't be so bad, really.

You don't think that'll be a hard sell seeing most believe his policies have greatly improved the economy and will even more so with the China trade deal, and the U.S.Can-Mex deal?

Won't be so bad, really.

And if it doesn't go your way it won't be so bad really either. That's not to say any President in his second term won't make some mistakes and that there won't be a measure of "bad" but overall it'll be considered in many ways a pretty good time for America.
