  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

According to 2 Chronicles 7:14, we can do something to turn the tide of the direction our country is going in.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

There is such great power in that verse!

I keep hearing from teachers that that verse is actually misinterpreted and used wrongly in this context...

I'll have to read the whole chapter & see if there's merit to that.

Contextually, God is talking about judgments which He may pass. IMO, the results of this last election is showing us that God is judging our nation. We have the power, through Him, to stop that judgment.
Honestly everhopeful... the country DESERVES THIS. And it will not repent until something serious happens.

I'm not quite saying I want something bad to happen, but keeping this nation at status quo is not going to produce conviction and repentance.

If you look at the numbers, the majority are clueless or rebellious or apathetic to truth anymore. You cannot even correct people today without retaliation and hatred in return. Just mention obeying God and expect a whoopin.

If we WANT the nation to repent & turn, then it's going to have to go thru trouble becuz we've BEEN praying for this country to turn around for years during Clinton's terms.... it's only gotten much worse.

I'll always continue to pray for our country - but in my heart I fully believe we're past the point of turning outside of serious judgment (if God will even judge us - sometimes He leaves people to their chosen depravity & they fall apart from within).
(Rom. 1:21-32)

I know what you're saying and I agree that you probably have it pegged correctly. BUT, I still hope that those who have truly chosen to follow Christ will step up their efforts to do His will.

I know that I have areas to work on! :)

I've been down that road a lot lately. I have friends who call themselves conservative Christians who voted for Obama because "he has such a great vision."

And don't forget the ridicule....

Though these verses were written to the Jew during Old Testament times, I believe that there is application to us as believers today. I realize that God was referring to the promises that He made about the Promise Land - IF His people continued to rely upon Him and worship Him. Yet, the thing that I hang my hat on is the fact that we serve this kind of God; a God that will bless His followers when they lean into Him and love Him. I think of the following verses:

Matt 5:13-16
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Acts 1:8
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Witnesses in our city, state, nation, and the world)

Acts 17:6
6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; (They impacted the world that they lived in)

Jude 22-23
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Rom 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

I cannot make others do their part, but I can do my part.
I cannot reach everyone, but I can reach someone.
I cannot change the world, but through His power I can be used to change someone's world.
I have not been called to love the world (it's too big and that is too general), I have been called to love my neighbor (that is doable and it is personal)
We cannot do everything, but we can do something... the result: God will impact this land!

Just my thoughts... May God help us!!
