What was the purpose of creation?

The One is a being of Love. Love is something that creates, so the One, by Love, created All. It is that simple. What are you looking for me to say?

You must establish that God is a being of love. You must establish how it makes sense to say that God is a being of love if it was once true that nothing existed except God, because there would be nothing for him to love. You must establish that love is tied into the creative act, because I do some of my best creations when I'm angry. In other words, make it so that your post isn't a long list of unsubstantiated claims. That's how we do things here in philosophy.

Forgive me for being new. XP And thanks for the warm welcome.
I know Diety is a Being of love, for I have felt the One's love, and so I know it is. But if you are looking for something more substantial than personal experience . . .
"Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." John 4:8
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." John 4:16
And how do I know that love creates? Look around you. Love for those in need creates charity, love between a man and woman creates a union, love itself creates happiness, and a mother's love for her child creates a bond. There are numerous other examples as well; you barely need to glance to see them.

I don't think there is a difference between being lonely and desiring company. Does a perfect god really have desires?

What does desires prove about perfection? Can one be content and still have desires? I think so. I can have a desire and be content if I get what I want and be content if I do not get what I want.

If we cannot see the Creator but we can see the creation and it is a being that is capable of chosing to be loving and knows that being loving is good and being unloving is bad, what does that indicate about the Creator we cannot see?

Being content is getting what you want, and not being content is not getting what you want. Don't play word games.
To have desires, one must be incomplete. We are hungry because we require food, horny because require sex, and lonely because we require company. To be perfect, it is absolutely necessary that one has no desires and is complete.

I don't agree. God can be perfect and still love us and want us to love Him and each other. It is not a defect but a part of being perfect. Even for us wanting company does not mean we require company. I may want a new car but it is not required to be happy or content.

I fail to agree.
For example: I wanted to see the next subtitled chapter of a manga last Saturday, but the subbers were on holiday that week. I won't get to see that chapter until next Saturday. I didn't get what I wanted, but I'm still content.
I think that being content has more to do with acceptance of fact rather than the fulfillment of desire.

Ok, Buddha. Dahlia, I've already accidentally been mean to you for no reason, so I'm going to let it slide.
