"Imitation of Life" by REM because to me (they are known for having songs that can have wildly different interpretations) it is about "having a go" and "Losing my Religion", because to me it is about non-conformity - not the point of the song but hey whatever works, works.

Smashing Pumpkins "for sheila" perfectly describes a certain moment in my life, and the strangest part is that I was listening to the song at that moment. Driving west across Wyoming, past midnight, on a summer night, with a full moon directly above the road, and a huge lightning storm off in the distance to the north. All this contributed to the haunting dreamlike quality of the experience.

"Twilight fades
Through blistered Avalon
The sky's cruel torch
On aching autobahn
Into the uncertain divine
We scream into the last divide

You make me real
You make me real
Strong as I feel
You make me real

Sheila rides
On crashing nightengale
Intake eyes
Leave passing vapor trails
With blushing brilliance alive
Because it's time to arrive

You make me real
You make me real
Strong as I feel
You make me

Lately, I just can't seem to believe
Discard my friends to change the scenery
It meant the world to hold a bruising faith
But now it's just a matter of grace

A summer storm
Graces all of me
Highway warm
Sings silent poetry
And I could bring you the light
And take you home into the night

(You make me real) Lately, I just can't seem to believe
(You make me real) Discard my friends to change the scenery
(Strong as I feel) It meant the world to hold a bruising faith
(You make me real) But now it's just a matter of grace"

Ummm..er... The first song that ever got to me was Paradise City by Guns 'n Roses. I was probably 7, 8 or 9 at the time. I can't really remember. I wanted to go down to the paradise city where the grass was green and the girls were pretty.:D
