Wow, I just went through every page in this forum, and while it's possible I missed it, I didn't see a single The Sims thread. Am I the only one who finds The Sims (1 and 2) to be the best game?
I have to admit, The Sims 1 is a whole lot better than the latest one. But, if no one else here plays the game, there's no need for me to explain why I think that, lol.

Well I had close to the same, except, one day, I stopped, and started to think. I didn't really understand the story to the game, it was my story of course, and as he said above, I could fulfill that in real life. That and the fact that even if I did play without cheats (which I always used, I just liked designing big homes) that I would never really win, there was no winning. The only part of the game that was actually cool to me, was the construction, but I also want to be a architect, so that was the main reason I bought the game. Although, I picked up the newer version of the Sims, no not Urbz, that looks like a hopeless sequel prequel gone bad. Anyway, I picked up a console version of the Sims, for gamecube, I didn't want it for the Xbox, that's my big time gaming platform, when I wanna spend some dough for games. Anyway those are reasonably good attempts at a thought at life story of someone else.

I never really enjoyed playing in live mode in TS1. My favorite thing to do was build and decorate the houses. I always use the cheats, lol. I also have a several thousand downloaded objects and recolors of my own.

I think that's why I am so disappointed with TS2. Yeah, being able to build more than 2 stories is great, and the larger lots are awesome. But, now we have all this space and a totally lame selection of stairs, walls, floors and objects. Worse, they haven't released anything like the T-mog so we could have custom content. They haven't released anything like HomeCrafter to let us make our own floors and walls. No art studio.

On top of that it is an enormously buggy game. To the person with it on the Christmas list - rethink your choice. They say the patch is in the works, but until the patch is released, the game is almost unplayable beyond a day or two (if you want to play one family instead of bouncing between multiple families). I WELL exceed the suggested specifications and it isn't hardware compatability - it's a low quality product.

That said, I do see the potential for TS2 if they can actually fix it and provide the Simmers a way to add custom content (other than clothes and genetics).

I by far prefer TS1 and think it is just about the best game I've ever played.
