Civ 5 is pretty fun. I didnt have the money for it either but I got an early Christmas present and picked it up a week ago. My friend and I just played a game where I harvested uranium and built nukes while he built nuclear submarines. Six nuclear weapons at a time... within a couple of turns the other continent was nothing but a huge mass of glowing fallout. Muhahaha

Team Fortress 2, Half-Life Series(Best FPS ever made), Civilizations 5, StarCraft 2, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike, Portal... I am a Valve fanboy. Used to play alot of Neverwinter Nights. I also have had the unfortunate encounter with world of warcraft, theres three years of my life I wont get back...

Portal was a great game but a bit short...Portal 2 screen shots look good. Its not till the second time you play it that you realise how sinister GlaDOs really is for example...

"And remember, Android hell is a real place that you will be sent to at the first sign of insubordination!" is a great line!

Currently working my way through Dragon age orgins and awakening and all the DLC stuff at the moment. Great RPG but gets a bit samey after a while.

I like most genres, and don't really have a favorite genre. But when it comes down to it, a game must have good graphics for its time, a story I can enjoy, good gameplay, and decent replayability (all of which can be relative).

But my favorite games are...

Ace Combat 5 & Zero
Dead Space
Demon's Souls
Final Fantasy VIII, X, XI, & XIV
Mass Effect 1, 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Need for Speed Most Wanted, Underground II (I don't like the newer NFS games... though I do like NFS Online; if I can't destroy police cars and get up to unrealistic speeds, I ain't bothering.)
Prototype
Resident Evil 4&5
Resonance of Fate
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3, 4
Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga 1, 2
Yakuza 3

I mostly play three games. Civ III, Fritz-12 and Chessmaster 10, although I call the last two programs, and not games.

Civ III as most know is a turn-based strategy game and the best in the franchise. I have certain options that I play that makes warfare easier to get to as I play in the Future Ere. War starts very early, especially if all 31 countries are on a very small map. I won't play it traditionally, but only my way as I have been doing since I got the game back in '01.

But I am in charge of a lot of things on Chess.com and have open communication with some of the head honchos over there. Fritz and Chessmaster helps me follow certain games and learn more tactics and openings, so when I am in my role as "Chess Journalist," I can understand most of what they're saying. But yes, usually if I am not fighting the world in Civ I am playing a lot of chess. :D

I love Portal!! Portal 2 is one of the games I am most excited for (with Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, and Uncharted 3).

I agree with you about Dragon Age Origins. I got to where I just was kinda "meh" about it, and had to take a break for a while.

I recently got obsessed with Starcraft II and have been playing that a lot and have been watching live streaming of some professional players on this website and have been getting pretty decent at the game!

I play Battlefield 1943 online a lot, I would consider myself an aggressive player who likes to win.

The graphics are way too Pentium one. ;)

BF2 Rocks. I am very excited to see what BF3 will be like. I just hope they do not fill it with profanity like they did with Bad Company. I am too old and too Christian for that kind of immaturity. And I have to laugh to keep from going off on someone when they say the profanity adds realism. IMO, if you want realism then join the Marines. This is a video game and far from real. However, I do value great graphics as well as great play. The Battlefield games offer that.

I'm so glad to be seeing other videogame nerds like myself on here. :) I consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer. I really enjoy survival horror games like the Silent Hill and the Resident Evil series. I love first person shooters such as Bioshock, Call of Duty, and the older James Bond games. I also enjoy RPGs such as Final Fantasy, Stella Deus, and Dragon Age: Origins. Back in the day, I played a lot of racing games such as Mario Kart and Diddy Kong racing. Those games are still so much fun to play, especially with a group of friends!:) I love a variety of games. I guess whatever game I feel like playing, really depends on my mood.

I used to play the first silent hill to death, I think I played until I had pretty much got all the endings. THe second one was too weird. I still play my resident evil 1 and 2 especially where you can play as different characters and with different weapons. FF 7 and 8 are classics.

BF3 looks awesome, I liked BF 1943 for the fact that it was more geared toward a younger audience unlike the other games in BF series and there is no blood or cursing in it as well. It always makes me feel dirty and empty when I play games with that garbage in it, it offends me and I believe it offends God as well.
