I mostly play three games. Civ III, Fritz-12 and Chessmaster 10, although I call the last two programs, and not games.
Civ III as most know is a turn-based strategy game and the best in the franchise. I have certain options that I play that makes warfare easier to get to as I play in the Future Ere. War starts very early, especially if all 31 countries are on a very small map. I won't play it traditionally, but only my way as I have been doing since I got the game back in '01.
But I am in charge of a lot of things on Chess.com and have open communication with some of the head honchos over there. Fritz and Chessmaster helps me follow certain games and learn more tactics and openings, so when I am in my role as "Chess Journalist," I can understand most of what they're saying. But yes, usually if I am not fighting the world in Civ I am playing a lot of chess.
