What sort of games do you prefer to play, do you have any particular preferences?

I'm fairly eclectic in my tastes though I tend to go for role playing games like ELder Scrolls and Mass effect though I do have some platformer games and the odd FPS games like Warfare 2 and Borderlands.

I tend to avoid racing and sports games such as Blur and Fifa 11 not interested really.

I like games with some substance to them. preferably a story of some sort.

I love sports games haha! FIFA '11 and Madden '11 are my newest purchases! I also love Halo, and COD, and racing games! I love meeting Godly people that like to play them as well! Super legit!
Wow didn't know there were people in the US that play FIFA lol. Always thought that more to be a europe orientated franchise.

I mostly play Roleplaying Games.

Right now I'm playing Dragon Age for like the 4th time while waiting for:
Dragon Age 2 (YAY)
Elder Scrolls V (hopefully it's not an MMO like I've heard)
Fable 3 (when they decide to put the PC version out)
Two Worlds 2 (provided it's not a complete flop like the first was)

I'm also looking forward to I Am Alive, but that is turning into vapourware it seems.
Then there is also Duke Nukem Forever. ;)

I play RPGs (western and eastern, tried most MMOs but only stuck with WoW)
I play fighting games (SFIV, BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, and Soul Calibur being the most modern ones)
FPS (Counterstrike:Source, Team Fortress 2, Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2)
Action/Adventure Games
RTS (Starcraft 2, Dawn Of War 2)

I play pretty much anything but sports games honestly, and I've been playing games since I was at least 3 years old.

I love RPGs, platforms, and beat em' up (weapon) games. In particulaly Fable, Soul Calibur and Sonic. I'm saving up to get the last final fantasy for xbox 360, as well as Fable 3. I had Xbox 360 with fable 2, soul calibur 4, and bioshock but they all were stolen from my house last month. So i have to save up to get it all back. shouldn't be too hard as these games are cheap now, and the 360 arcade is cheap too ^_^

I have a Dreamcast where I love playing Shenmue, Sonic and the first soul calibur. Good times!

Wow, this is hard, I've been playing for so long. When I was a kid I had Commodore 64 and before that some crappy console, and I've been playing ever since.

Of course games with a story and atmosphere are great. My all-time favourites would be Dune (the first one), Fallout 1&2, System Shock 2, Doom (not much of a story but....you know, it's Doom), Gabriel Knight 3, The Dig, Blade Runner, Mass Effect, The Darkness...there are just so many.

Some light strategy games also had their impact on me. Civilization is a given, and also Close Combat games, I had them all except the first one.

Championship Manager 2 was the first proper manager game I had, although I never cared for football, this game was just great. As a hockey fan, NHL EHM 2007 remains the best hockey manager game ever made.
Then, sports games in general. I really don't care about anything else than hockey, but man I've had fun playing PES 5&6 and FIFA 09 with my friends. NHL 10 stands as the best hockey-in-action game. Also, the eternal Wayne Gretzky Hockey must be recognized.

Racing. I'm not the guy who gets excited about cars, but I've had a buttload of racing games. Forza Motorsport 2 and Project Gotham Racing 3 were the most recent hits for me, earlier would be Stunt Car Racing (back in C64 days).

Then, shooters and action games. There were some awesome 2D shooters back then. Turrican 2, Gods, Switchblade 2, R-Type, X-out, Denaris, Armalyte (C64), Prince of Persia, ...too many. 3D shooters nowadays...a lot of good stuff, but can't get so excited about them anymore. The Darkness was great, and R6 Vegas games have remained ones of those I still play on Xbox live with my friends. GTA4 and Saints Row (the first one) rule the sand box games.

Let's not forget about the good old beat 'em ups. International Karate with it's sequels, Panza Kick Boxing, Bruce Lee! you name it.

I am old.

Wow fairly broad tastes. I had Blade Runner though I could never get very far...I think there were a few bugs in my version. I have just bought a second hand copy of the Darkness...wow its an interesting game. Saints Row 2 is worth a look too! GTA4...goes without saying and you are right about Doom...I still play it!

The Darkness may seem like a stupid shooter, but the more you play it, the more you love it. At the same time it has a good story, good characters, humor, some "horror" and of course very lovable violence. ehheh.
And, may I add, that I don't get upset easily. I mean get upset like when I am relating to a game character on some incident that happens in a game, but Darkness has probably the most disturbing scene I remember In any game. That's why it's so great, you get emotional. It's rare in a game.

I did buy SR2, because I loved the first one. It just...I understand people may like it, since you can play co-op online and all, but I thought it just sucked on every level and SR1 was far more interesting. I can give it away for free, if someone happens to visit Finland.

Don't know why, but just now I remembered Populous. Especially Populous 2. It was great. Time surely flies.

I'm a huge fan of rpgs, particularly the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite games ever.... But I've been into the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games recently, and Mass Effect.
I also loves me some platformers. Been playing them since the old Super Mario days on the NES. New Mario Bros Wii is pretty awesome. I just got the new Kirby game, haven't got a chance to play it yet, but I've heard its good. I love the Ratchet and Clank games.
I also like Halo, Call of Duty, Bioshock, Borderlands, other shooters.... Action/Adventure, some racing, but not really any sports games....

Retro gamer.

I like 8-bit/16-bit style arcade games (platformers and shoot 'em ups). Some of my favourite shoot 'em ups are series like R-Type, Gradius, Parodius, Donpachi, Star Soldier, Thunder Force, Aleste, etc. Platformers are Mario, Sonic, Bonk, Zelda I-III, Adventure Island, Wonder Boy, Mega Man, Castlevania, Metroid, etc.

Of course I like pretty much anything. JRPGs are great, like the Final Fantasy games (III-VI please!), Dragon Quest series, Phantasy Star I-IV, Chrono Trigger, Shining Force I-II, etc.

The first or second Mass Effect? Either way, both are awesome. I usually went the paragon route, kinda firm but fair, I guess. Still waiting for some info on ME3....

FF7 definitely got me into RPGs also, along with Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. FF9 was also one of my favorites.

The first Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) got me. Came free with my first Nintendo Power subscription. :)
