That song is depressing as hell.

I know... but the deep-seeded feelings it invokes, the passion expressed through the entire song (from the very first piano key stroke) and the honesty.... all just make it irresistable to me.

Billie Holiday! Brilliant...except "Strange Fruit", I like Nina Simone's version better. :-/

never heard Nina Simone's version until tonight but i think that was one of the first Billie Holiday songs i ever heard and thought it was excellent, very moving. depressing, yes, but i think thats the point :p

I used to have a book about the song. Forgot what it was called. I think Tori Amos covered it too...right?...and Jeff Buckley.

I used to have a book about the song. Forgot what it was called. I think Tori Amos covered it too...right?...and Jeff Buckley.

I hate that Tori Amos does so many covers. Honestly. She doesn't need to do that. She's got more than enough beautiful material. :doh:
