Deathbringer from the Sky by Enisferum

been a long time since i've listened to this album. great folk metal.

(fyi-folk metal is not like a hardcore James Taylor. its actually pagan metal. the lyrcis sometimes talk about nature, fantasy, paganism, just depends on what the individual band chooses to write about. but they use more traditional folk instruments mixing in with metal playing. fantastic. imagine Lord of the Rings soundtrack gone heavy metal. superb.)

looked up Deathbringer from the Sky on youtube. why must they sing-growl like that and abuse their drums? :(
Any folk-metal songs where they don't do that tatted?

On topic,

"Free"- Mazzy Star
abuse the drums? i hope you don't say that about jazz drummers :p :) (just joking around.)

well i don't listen to a whole lot of folk metal. just a few bands. but i've heard some that don't scream. it sounds like celtish rock or celtish metal and its fantastic stuff. here's a list of some names:

Midnattsol
Amorphis (some of their stuff they do scream and growl but they also have songs that are just straight singing. i guess they are classified as folk metal but i never thought they were. their new stuff is what i'm about. a really good band. i would recommend their newer stuff. amorphis is one of my favorite bands. especially their latest 2 albums.)

here's a link with some names:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_folk_metal_bands

sorry i wasn't much help.

it may help to, to search myspace under either folk metal or celtic as well. there were some bands on there that weren't like enisferum, but i can't remember their names.

the band i want to hear is Skyforger. bagpipes in heavy metal?...oooohh yeeea! i gotta hear what that sounds like soon.
