  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What song cover are you listening to?

I listen to King's Return Quartet when I need to relax and unwind. They do amazing versions of some traditional Latin hymns like "Ubi Caritas", but I also like their versions of secular pop songs, too, even songs I don't particularly like the originals of, like their version of The Bee Gees "How Deep Is Your Love":

I'm not sure what the state of the major music business is these days, but these guys need to be everywhere!

I can see why this song would help you relax. They sound heavenly singing it.

Come Rain or Come Shine is a Harold Arlen/Johnny Mercer song was written back in the 40's for a Broadway musical. It's a very cool, slow jazz song that's been covered by many singers. Ray's version from 2001 is one of the best.

BTW: Another great cover of this song is by B.B. King and Eric Clapton on their Riding With The King album from 2000. It's also on YouTube and is definitely worth a listen.

I do not know what "cover" song means,

But was thinking of other things like a couple of threads in the "debate and discussion"

section.
Well, it drifted over to more pleasant thoughts, not solving the worlds problems

but rising higher above them.

Then there came a song to me that I must have heard somewhere long ago.

And I said, "Yep, that's me."

Whenever someone sings another person's song it's called a cover. For instance, I Will Always Love You was originally done by Dolly Parton. That means the Whitney Houston version is a cover. It might be the most famous cover of all time. Dolly reportedly got ten million in royalties so she was fine with it lol.

Thanks for the info, I have only heard of "cover" now and then here on CF.

Great singer, Whitney.
