  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What should I write about?

I wonder what should I write about. I got this idea about writing something which would lead to something...I'm not sure whether it is something that's important in my life, or just something that I'd like to do...

I love languages, singing, movies, talking, reading. I have some knowledge about english studies, speech communication studies (which I'm currently studying),
singing and performing...

I don't really have experience of a lot of stuff, cause I still live at home and see very few people.

Just thought that it would be nice to write about something...but what?

Could I write about a tv-series, which has moved me? And what should I write about it?

I have the same problem. I used to be able to come us with ideas all the time, now that I've been in school and working all the time, its like my creative side just died. Haha. I haven't been able to come up with anything good to write it agessss.

Write the story that you'd like to read.

Exactly. Simple advice, but the best.

In the mean-time, the important thing is to keep writing. Whatever comes to mind, write a little every day. Eventually, you'll get some ideas and become inspired.

Write about what you know. That way your voice will come across as genuine. Use your own life experiences as a springboard when employing your imagination for pieces of fiction; this will add the very important quality of verisimilitude to your work.

Yes, write what you know and also write what you are passionate about.

For starters:
Keep a small notebook handy. Some of the best ideas come when not thinking about it. Just jot down ideas for awhile. When you pick a subject...keep making notes when ideas pop up, where ever you are...

Then start working on expanding on the ideas and arranging them.

And of course, when you pick your topic, read all you can about it.

Write what you are passionate about.... if you write about something simply because you think you should write about it (but you are not really passionate about it), you will simply get bored with it! If you are passionate about it, you might have writer's block sometimes, but you will always come back to and enjoy writing about it!

I would suggest narrowing the field.
What do you like to read?
Mystery? Drama? Love stories? Heart breaking stories?
Adventure, scifi, fantasy?
What age group? Do you want to write childrens stories? tween books,
teen chapter books? Adult(age not content) books?

When you focus on what interests you, it will be easier to think of what to write.
Your 25, you have had experiences in your life. You might still live at home, but you have lived through school, friends, hardships of some kind.
Don't totally ignore what you have lived.
Maybe journal about things that have happened to you, and see how it works out. Maybe writing about these will inspire you to write something else.
Take one incident, then ad some spice to it, a new character, a twist of the problem, a problem on top of a problem, put it in a unique location or a different time period.
Journal short stories or incidents and you should be able to figure out a book shortly after. If not you are making interesting short stories.

Don't expect "Moby Dick" in a few weeks. First settle into a topic that interests you.

I have written in another thread.
Take the song "Sing"(Carpenters), and replace the words sing with write, and think about it.
Write, write a story, make it simple to last a whole life long, just write.
Don't worry if its not good enough for anyone else to hear, just write, write a story.
I would change the one part, write of happy not sad, write of good not bad, You can write about bad, or sad if it tells the story and how can you triumph over bad or sad if you don't write about it?
