I have a dilemma and wondered if you could advise me please?

At the end of yesterday's Sabbath meeting I was so full of the Holy Spirit (it was communion and I had never attended a communion like it, with foot washing - I liked it and found great significance in it), that it was only when I got outside and to the car (the car park is a distance from the church as it is on a main street with little or no parking of its own), that I realised that I had brought out the church hymn book with me and the Sabbath School Quarterly (I borrow a spare church copy as I don't have my own yet).

Now I am concerned that I may have offended the church or God or both. I am worried that what I have done may be regarded as stealing, when it was an honest oversight, and I am taking them back with me next Sabbath.

Should I tell the pastor and apologise, or should I simply take them with me and make sure that at the end of the meeting next Sabbath I definitely leave them behind?

I have prayed over this but would like some advice also. Thank you.

I think theres no problem with that as long as you did not bring it intentionally..may be you can return it tomorrow or next day or maybe when you have time or next Sabbath..

If your intent was to steal then your problem is with God because it belongs to God so if you did steal it just confess it to God because He is faithful and just to forgive and then bring it back. As a matter of fact, He loves to forgive us when we come to Him because it reveals our heart and our trust. If it was an honest mistake then just bring it back next Sabbath. It's really not a big deal.

I agree... the pastor would not be worried that you took the quarterly and/or the hymnal. Use this unintentional faux pas to your advantage... sing a couple of songs to God everyday and go through your Quarterly to be ready for next Sabbath.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I genuinely didn't know what to do and felt bad about my mistake. However, your advice has helped me a great deal. Thank you! :)

Man, no sweat, I'm almost positive folk in my church have taken hymnals and I think someone has taken my teachers lesson ^_^

Honestly it's no big deal, like everyone said, just bring it back next sabbath. You'll be fine.
