What Sets Your Heart on Fire?

As fire is passion, as some would say,
What sets your heart on fire today?
What lights that fire of zeal within?
What makes you happy, causes you to grin?

What gets you up before the dawn,
Drives you to go, e’en though you yawn?
What do you do when time is free?
What do you watch? What is your spree?

What do you talk ‘bout to your friends?
What interests you? And never ends?
What gets your heart pumping twice its speed?
What do you take in? What’s your feed?

What do you share without a qualm?
Ne’er shy away, and ne’er disown?
The answers here will surely tell
What is your passion, what rings your bell.

I feel like you’re asking. Can I confide in you? Up until recently it’s been Jesus and my hobby. Jesus first. But my writing has slowed way down. Rusty. I am praying for more understanding and renewal. My age is catching up to me, Alas. I’ve said all I have to say. Life has not lost it newness though. But fresh ideas would be welcome. Nice poem, still fresh. We are homebodies, nothing much new happens. Not true. But it’s the little things. The fresh new little things.

Thank you for sharing. I understand about age. I am 74 years old. I will turn 75 at the end of this year. I am slowing down. My brain and body are both slowing down. But God still has work for me to do, and this is my calling, and so I press on and trust him for the strength and for the endurance to keep going.
