What`s up with the Ps3?

I am not hating on the new Playstation, but I am very surprised that there is still a good stack of them at stores right now. I went to wal-mart the other day and saw at least 3 consoles not even sold yet. That also goes for Gamecrazy and Best Buy. On the other hand, I have not seen a single console or accesory for the Nintendo wii. I wanted to buy some accesories but there was nothing! They were all sold out! I would have expected the playstation 3 sections of such stores to be completely gone, but i guess not.

Could it be that the nintendo wii is the next game console giant? I mean, it was before, but that was 14 years ago when that happend. Now they could score big even with Microsoft and Sony! I guess SOny had a rough start and I think its because of the hefty price. Oh well

The PS3 is floundering right now because of the price and lack of games but I think it will start to pick up momentum once more games start coming out and the price starts to come down a bit. Of course if blu-ray goes betamax on us, it could be bad. Only time will tell. I've heard developers are pulling out but I can't say for sure because I don't follow it enough to know.

It's pretty much impossible to get either Wiis or DS Lites right now. Yes, even the DS Lite, which actually is outselling all the next-gen systems right now (at least in Japan)

It might have to do with the fact that Nintendo is the only company that's finally understood that games are about being fun, and not about turning the games industry into an interactive Hollywood (which is also known for being REALLY expensive because of all the flashiness). Sony is the polar opposite with the insistence of using Blu-Ray.

Price is too high. I'm a hardcore gamer and I drew the line on $600. I went with the 360 and I'll probably get a Wii.

The PS3 isn't worth it. Priced too high. No good games (that you can't get on another console).

plus, blu-ray, come on, it's either going to fail against hd-dvd (with the new hd-dvd's that hold more than the blu-ray), or some other format is going to show up that's purely awesome

Sony’s largest problem will be their games. Graphically, the new hardware will mean that the games will be below 360 quality for the next year or two. Game programmers also have been slow to take advantage of multiprocessor systems so it will take some time to take advantage of the cell. I don’t predict that sufficient quality games for the PS3 will come out until 2008, and by this time Sony will be able to compete with either Nintendo or Microsoft.

I think that's true too but very odd. Not long ago, Xbox and PS2 dominated Gamecube. I would never have believed Nintendo would be on the top of the heap again.

Well, the Gamecube didn't really try to be innovative so it didn't really have something to stand out like the DS Lite and Wii both have, so perhaps Nintendo learned its lesson?

There are a lot of PS3's because they are not selling because people are buying 360's and Wiis. The Wii is actually bolstering 360 sales as well. The PS3 is gonna be a horrible failure for Sony, and could tank them
