Hey guys,

2 years ago I stopped going to church. And i've noticed that as a result I'm now questioning things I never would have thought of. Because at church everyone seems so sure and certain about god, givin me no reason to ever question things.

But recently i've realized there really is no linking evidence to god. You cant even physically prove the bible is real.
Also when I was pretty strong with religion I fainted in the holy spirit and spoke in tongues. which felt absolutely amazing. But then I heard of the placebo affect. Which is where if your body is so convinced something will cause it to do something, it will happen even though nothin physically caused it to. Like your body can heal itself faster by taking sugar pills if it thinks it's getting medication.
I'm now questioning weather tongues and the feeling of god is just a placebo affect.

So I was just wondering, what reassures your about gods existence?

For me, i've come to the conclusion that weather god Is real or not he only brings good an positivity. And the feeling he brings is just amazing, and makes me want to be a better person even if it is just my body being crazy.
I've also decided to start going to a youth group again, and once again very strongly felt gods presence. I'm just so confused about it,but I'm hoping I can strengthen my relationship with god and put these questions behind me.

Also sorry if this was hard to understand or if I changed the topic every sentence. I'm typing this on my iPod and its taking to long to edit it all so I'm just leaving it

Well, I prayed to God for a dream to confirm Jesus was coming, sure enough I had a dream that I was left behind. I was weeping and I heard the trumpet waking up

Short version of my story:
Once I was horribly lost in a deep forest and the sun was setting. I prayed to the Lord to find me a way out somehow. I was so scared because I had no help with me, and it was getting lost; I was completely alone. After 20 minutes of wading my way through thick brush, I came upon a highway I had never seen before. I took a certain direction that lead me, luckily, to a place I finally did recognize!
God saved me in my hour of need, and just in time too, the sun was completely down soon after I got out of the forest. I also learned never go wander deep into a forest again, else I'll get senselessly lost!

As CS Lewis (ex-atheist, was converted to Christianity by JRR Tolkien himself) put it:

''I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.''

''Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.''

''If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.''

''God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.''

''Can a mortal ask questions which God finds unanswerable? Quite easily, I should think. All nonsense questions are unanswerable.''

''Miracles do not, in fact, break the laws of nature.''

''There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.' ''

Lewis shows that it is not our convictions or superstitions that saves us, it is our faith ^_^

The placebo effect is a very common excuse from atheists over the Holy Spirit's healing power, but I personally have experienced some things which cannot be cured by placebo, addiction being one of the primary ones. I was, a couple of months before being saved by God, addicted to self harm, and I was majorly depressed and in counselling. My left arm had well over 70 cuts, and I felt it was impossible to stop doing so, even though it hurt so much. But then, as an atheist, I felt, for the first time, God literally stepping in between me and self harm and taking it all away, then it just suddenly stopped and, although still an atheist, I was praising and thanking God for it, I knew he was responsible for saving me from going too far and potentially killing myself, even though I didn't believe in him. The way he changed my life, although I was an atheist, really just confirmed to me that he loves me no matter what and always wants the best for me, and its stuck with me since.

Praying your faith in the Lord is as strong as ever. :)

I can feel the Holy Spirit within me, and prayers have been answered. I have felt connected with God several times in my life, which is personal proof for me that God's word is truth. The Bible also makes a lot of sense to me. I just wish atheists and agnostics would understand...
