The main thing I have learned, is to forget and forgive minor slights, the major ones you stand up for yourself and fight for right!

To learn from your mistakes and not to repeat them, if you do repeat them try again :)

For every 1 person out there that is open and forgiving, their are 9 others that are not!

lastly, whoever said life was fair was badly mistaken!

I used to have a huge problem with getting really obsessively argumentative with the offending person in my thoughts, rehearsing little speeches where I'd tell 'em off :sorry: ....finally I was just driving myself so crazy that God gave me some help with learning to take every thought captive.....hopefully I won't relapse or something.

I hope you won't relapse either, Ivy. Good thing God is in control! :)

And that's great about the Lord's helping hand. May I ask what are some of the ways you've learned to take thoughts captive? I know I could use all the help I can get. :)

A stranger is just a friend you haven't met, yet. S/He is probably as scared of you as you are of him/her.

Never take important anything at face value; always check it out. It's amazing how often people tell you something that is provable false, or at least twisted enough to change the meaning.

Dire predictions seldom come true.

I think the main way was that I'd get someplace alone where I could talk out loud to the Lord......and just tell him all about what was aggravating me, how it made me feel, what I felt like saying etc. etc. I love the Scripture that says to "pour out your hearts before Him like water," that's kind of what I did.

And not everybody believes in or likes to use the gift of tongues-- so I have no problem with people who aren't comfortable with it btw--but sometimes I would just pray like that in my head to just drown out the voice of my own internal arguing. And after awhile, I settled down.

My main problem is anxiety lately......maybe it's the April pollens :sorry: , but if anybody has hints on overcoming that....:help:

I don't know if these have been mentioned already....

Listen to God's voice & obey.
Do something right the first time so that you don't have to do it again later.
If you do something wrong, admit it right off & take the blame instead of letting the consequences be on someone else.
Live in joy & seek first the Kingdom of God.
Work hard & pay for as much as you can instead of going into debt for it.
Live life to the fullest as God would have you do it - after all, God created us to enjoy it as we walk in Him.
Be thankful in every situation.
Look after each other & all of God's creation in good stewardship.

In the interests of sharing our collective wisdom with each other, I'd like to ask you what principles do you live by? What lessons have you learned about life or living that you can impart to the rest of us?

They can be big lessons that guide your decisions, actions and attitudes. Ones that motivate you, or keep you from jumping off of a cliff. ;) Or they can be practical, daily-life sorts of lessons.

Here are a few of mine:

Lesson:
When I start slipping into thoughts of regret about my past, I try to remember: The Best Is Yet To Come. That belief gives me confidence and re-orients me to act with optimism instead of pessimism.

Lesson:
When storing chocolate cake in the fridge, put a cover over it, or else it'll get dry and icky. :p

I've got more, but what are some of yours?

Lesson 1 Never give up, never give up, never give up,
lesson 2 all things work together for good ......
lesson 3 God is bigger and My relationship with Him is more important than anything I could do to destroy it .
Lesson 4 : integrity is more important than achieving my own personal agenda and recieving acolades which will ame me feel good.
Gods approval is better than man's approval

God bless you, nb. Our society feels more and more like a one in which people are thrown away. It's hard because there are friends and family members who go down wrong paths and end up hurting themselves and others over and over. I am reminded that Satan is the one messing with people. We need to pray against him, and for our friends and family members.

Some principles that I live by is to not throw people away. To not harshly judge them. To hate the sin and not the person. Also not to give up on someone, it's not over till God says is't over, although admittedly I can get a little discouraged and tired of waiting.
Good on you its soo hard not to judge

judge not as you your self will be judged/QUOTE]

having been on both sides of the judgement thing I know what is to be judge and alos to judge others and I don't like either side of that divide.

So have I, not pleasant, I felt bad when I realized I was judging someone, the Holy Spirit convicts me, God knows it feels terrible when someone judges me.
