That is a GREAT point that does not get pointed out enough.
Do you get to go to AA or therapy or counseling while in hell? I know that our legal system not only offers it, but requires it in many instances.
Repeat offenders? And repeat repeat offenders? Those that willingly choose to NOT "do the right thing," even when TOLD to do it? Demanded by man-made by LAW to do it?
What is required about them?
Reasoning truth from looking at the prison system and wars all over the world throughout history and two-seconds ago, that "even" mankind desires to "get rid" of "bad people" forever, as, a "life sentence" is literally "forever" to these kinds of people.
Mimicking the ultimate logic perhaps?
Or just realizing it?
(Edit add)
Oops, I'm sorry, I almost forgot, Christ Jesus (God), desires that no one is gotten rid of forever, and that a human can "decide" to do good. And His followers have been consistently holding to that beautiful and peace affirming message.
In the case of atheism, humanism and all of the other 0 x 0 = 0 is where we came from crowd . . . how would any secularist, liberal or atheist justify any mankind derived law anywhere on earth? Many of these "laws" do indeed remove others from others.
No, remove "secularist," because as we have seen, "they" have indeed implemented the removal of people "forever," and
made it a law everywhere on earth where they have had the political power to do so.
Makes thinking about the OP all that more important.
