Really had no idea of philosophic labels for me; all I knew was whose writings I liked, both Kierkegaard and Spinoza.

I was astonished at how the ratings stacked up....Me, an Existentialist???? Not with those negatives, I had a lot more optimisim about the human mind than that.

"Your life is guided by the concept of Existentialism: You choose the meaning and purpose of your life. "

Existentialism 75%
Kantianism 60%

Justice (Fairness) 60%
Hedonism 60%

Utilitarianism 45%
Divine Command 45%

Strong Egoism 35%
Apathy 30%

Nihilism 5%

But then I saw the pairs were correct: Existentialism over Kantianism; Justice (Fairness) over Hedonism; Untilitarianism over Divine Command; Strong Egotism over Apathy; Nihilism dead last, where it belongs.

And I think, I can live with that! With the help of God!

Very weak quiz, in my opinion. It treats "Divine Command" as something completely separate from living according to reason, when in fact both are fundamentally the same.
Were I to describe myself, I'd say Christian Eudaimonist, but there is no philosophy resembling it.

It's kind of odd that for one person, their life is controlled just by one philosophy when they just scored a match in the 70%'s, yet there are some whose life are not dominated at all by philosophies when they scored in the 80%'s, even 90%'s. That's my problem with the test, if you scored 0% on all options except a 5% (I can't see that as a possibility for the test either, but understand me here), you'd be considered with that 5%.

I just took the test and came out with the following results that I have to admit do describe me:

Divine Command 100%

You scored as Divine Command.

Your life is directed by Divine Command: Your god and religion give you meaning and direction.

"Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations."

Test flawed - too simplistic. But hey, I am kind of an existentialist hedonist.

You scored as Utilitarianism.

Your life is guided by the principles of Utilitarianism: You seek the greatest good for the greatest number.

?The said truth is that it is the greatest happiness of the greatest number that is the measure of right and wrong.?
--Jeremy Bentham

?Whenever the general disposition of the people is such, that each individual regards those only of his interests which are selfish, and does not dwell on, or concern himself for, his share of the general interest, in such a state of things, good government is impossible.?
--John Stuart Mill

To quote Richard Dawson, 'Survey says:'
Existentialism 90%
Nihilism 85%
Hedonism 85%
Justice (Fairness) 80%
Utilitarianism 55%
Strong Egoism 55%
Kantianism 15%
Apathy 15%
Divine Command 0%

Not a very good survey in my opinion, but interesting. As has been said before, the questions were not very well phrased insofar as many just aren't suited to simple 'srongly disagree'<--->'strongly agree' responses. Still, I'd say that the list, with its relative weightings, does (as far as it goes) pretty fairly represent my philosophy. One of the problems is that philosophy is a very broad term; it might be more useful to have the results broken down into the major metaphysical branches (ontology, epistemology, ethics and meta-ethics, philosophy of mind, etc.) so that one might see how he 'scored' in each branch, where different approaches can be directly juxtaposed.

I scored 95% Existentialism, with 65% Strong Egoism. Hedonism was fairly high up there as well. Utilitarianism, Kantianism, and Apathy were pretty low. (I accidentally exited the window, so I'm just remembering these).

Not much of a surprise, really; I have strong existentialist leanings. But, the test was pretty simplistic -- the questions mostly show that whoever made the test doesn't understand the philosophies that well.
