I got some suckers at Babies R Us called Preggie Pops that helped some. They are made with naturally soothing flavors. Beware of the purple ones, they are lavender flavor.

Also check with your Doctor. Mine said I could take Emetrol for nausea. I used it a few times when it got really bad. It helped me make it to work a couple of times.

A friend of mine who is pregnant swears by ginger snaps but they never worked for me.

I hope it gets better soon!

I said this on the other thread, but I found that my nausea was just my body telling me to eat. So long as I ate often I felt fine. Also fruity flavored tums helps and is an added way to get calcium. But I know I had it easier than most with the nausea
thats what it seems, if i dont always have food in me, i get sick.... i have been chewing tums too, since i dont get enough calcium... but i just feel bad... but its all good!! i am just a baby today!

I had horrible morning sickness for 10 weeks. My doctor put me on Promethazine~ generic for Phenegran. It works great, but will make you really sleepy. I only took it after I had thrown up twice in the morning. I had the nice 24 hour morning sickness.

I also drank ginger ale, that worked ok at night, not at all during the day. And I got Club Crackers, and munched those all day, that was about the only solid thing I could keep down.

I just have to eat, non-stop. I'm a skinny person too, to start with, but all the eating still always makes me nervous. I mean, nobody likes to gain a lot of weight in the FIRST trimester, because you KNOW you'll have to gain lots more as you go along!!!!!!!!! ^_^

If it makes you feel any better, I always lose it later (when baby nurses it right out of me--heehee~!)...

That's my big bright advice, after doing this four times--well, make that five now. Just get lots of healthy-type snacks, and eat constantly. I'm well-known in my house for suddenly looking green, jumping up to the kitchen and getting out the toaster at lightening speed and toasting a slice of whole grain bread, lathering it with a good dose of healthy peanut butter, and shoving it down my throat like a mad woman.
(It's either that, or I'll be running to the toilet to puke)! ^_^

I buy organic almonds and organic dried apricots in bulk--those are good (and healthy) quick grabs to fend of a bout of sickness, too, so they just sit in my fridge awaiting my hand... Cheese is another great one--just a little hunk will ward off a wave of sickness (though cheddar grosses me out when I'm pregnant, so I buy Colby/Jack then).

Something about protien really makes it helpful...wish I could tell you why, medically, but I can't. All I know is...it works!

The best medicine, however, is the simple phrase:
"This, too, shall pass."

*grin*

Nothing helped me in the beginning. I had all day morning sickness. The only thing that made it somewhat better was laying in bed and not moving at all. I didn't think throwing up helped me at all. When I threw up it was so suddenly and hard my stomach would feel cramped for the rest of the day.

About a month into my morning sickness Preggie Pops (I bought the sour fruits flavor) helped to take a bit of the edge off the queasiness first thing in the morning. And it never worked for me to eat large amounts of food... I always had to have the smallest little bits more often. The extra weight in my stomach made me feel a lot worse.

Some things that work for other people are

*eat small amounts and slowly. wat frequent small meals.
*drink or sip liquids throughout the day. drink fewer liquids during meals. drinking liquids can cause a full or bloated feeling and increase nausea.
*try foods such as toast, crackers, yogurt, sherbet, pretzels, angel foodcake, oatmeal, skinner chicken(baked or broiled not fried), cooked fruits and veggies that are soft and bland, ice chips, or clear liquids sipped slowly.
*drink beverages cool or chilled.
*eat foods at room temperature or cooler;hot foods may add to the nausea.
*rest after meals because activity may slow digestion.
*eat a high protein snack before bed(milk, eggs, peanutbutter, nuts, cheese, meat).
*wear loose fitting clothes.
* walk a mile a day to promote digestion.
*take B6 vitamin 100 to 200 mg daily.
*open a window or go outside for fresh air.
*eat ginger snap cookies.
*drink ginger tea(1/2 to 1 tsp of ginger root powder to 1 cup hot water).
*drink red raspberry leaf tea (1 tsp raspberry leaves to 2 cups boiling water; steep 5-7 minutes).
*drink peppermint tea.
*drink slippery elm tea(1/2 tsp powder 1 cup hot water)
*may need to stop taking iron until the nausea ceases.
*avoid foods such as fatty, greasy,or fried foods;very sweet food such as candy, cookies,or cake;spicy hot foods;or foods with strong odors.
*avoid eating in a room that is stuffy, too warm, or has cooking ordors or smells that disgree with you.
*don't force yourself to eat foods when you feel nauseated;it may cause a permanent dislike of those foods.
*if nausea is a problem in the morning, try eating dry toast or crackers before getting out of bed. get out of bed slowly and avoid sudden movements.
