I honestly do not know what I would do. I am sure I would defend my family, but I cannot say what measures I would take. Who can know for sure until such a thing happens?

War never decides who is right, only who is left.

I praise God that you have never had to find out Jim. I do know that you have to know before that situation ever comes up or you-are-lost. You will panic and be helpless in the sight of one who has planned before hand. I do not wish to be forced to kill to protect my wife but if I am forced into that decision I am prepared to do it completely and with force.

Was Vietnam a “just” war? Did we count the cost accurately enough before our politicos decided it was in “America’s best interest” to sacrifice 50,000 young men and maim the bodies and screw up the psyches of thousands more only to bail out years later after the politicos decided, too late, that it was in “America’s best interest” to bail out? Will we do that again?

And that has what to do with the training and purpose of the military?

God bless you, Habeas. It takes courage to post this, even in a Christian forum. Christ said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight,” (John 18.36), but so many of His “servants” are ready to pick up arms and blow away anyone the politicos in Washington DC consider our designated national “enemy” of the moment.
What on God's green grassed earth has this got to do with the OP's desire to talk about the conditioning of soldiers?

Someone else tried to bring into the discussion the general belief about war and the OP made it quite clear what she wanted this discussion to be about.

Maybe someday we will let Christ’s example determine our principles and not the government.
You are making a huge leap. Just because most of us here understand the purpose of the military and know that soldiers being sent to battle needs to be properly trained doesn't at all, even in the slightest, mean that we christians are allowing the government to determine our principals.

Someone has said that war will exist until the day peacemakers enjoy the same honor as the warrior does.

And that day will only come when Jesus arives down here and takes over, until then I will honor both.

Ok Jim~

What measure of agression would you use to protect your family from a home invasion?

Same theory,America is our home..

Would you be a submissive male,or an alpha..wolf..??

Since this thread has already gone off topic, I would also like to answer your question.

I would hope that I would pray and have faith and trust in God that He would come to our rescue so I would hope that I would be submissive on those grounds. I would also hope that I would not be too agressive to take anothers life.

But we are not of this world, FS. At least, we are not supposed to be.

That's very true Jim but peace throughout all nations is also not appart of this world, and the peacemakers are very few.

No, Vietnam was not a just war, at least America's involvment in it. And now please explain how that has to do with properly conditioning soldiers to enter battle?

I am getting two messages here, bitter and sweet water out of the same fountain. One message is, our government is too corrupt to legislate morality but not corrupt enough to obey when they tell us to kill other human beigns.

Personally, I am not convinced that government is as corrupt as is commonly believed. Sure, it is imperfect, but it is the same “corrupt” government (by some’s estimation) that declares war “in America’s best interest”, to which many Christians in this forum would willingly and readily take up arms against other human beings and blow them away. Why would anyone do that for a government they think is corrupt?

Sorry, I did not know this was what we were talking about. I thought we were talking about a Christian’s involvement in war.

For the record, I know that wars will continue and that men must fight and die to prove some international interest. I am not going to judge any Christian who decides to enter the military but am only presenting my case from my own conscience. I do not believe that I could live with myself or justify my calling in Christ if I were to ever willingly, and deliberately kill another human being even in war. That’s my personal conviction. I will let others work out their own salvation.

For the past 15 years I’ve watched the going-ons in America in regards to Christianity, and political correctness, within and without. The warfare that was and still is going on has been going on for over fifty years. I've watched the American heritage be eroded by new age/occultic organisations and groups; so-called supportive organisations and groups; and other religions.

Now 15 years later, we are experiencing the same in our country. Our Christian heritage has been eroded since the arrival of "boat people", so-called "displaced people", and “refugees" from nearby Muslim countries, causing much turmoil, friction, and hate. The “Fair Go” attitude and policy of Australia will destroy our country.

I’ve watched our Christmas disintegrate into a farce and became a mockery to our own Heritage. Once upon a time we had Christian Education in schools, and now through guerrilla warfare it has been stolen, killed and destroyed; and it’s now called Religious Education, because the Muslims complained.

I’ve watched our National Anthem have Christian words be removed because they do not want to offend, as our Government is trying to establish a multicultural country that gives all citizens full rights and a “fair go”.

Being an old soldier, and during my service guerrilla warfare tactics became the “IN” thing. The aim of the tactics is to wear the enemy down, bit by bit, piece by piece; by stealing, killing, and destroying. Once those tactics begin in any area, they work hard for over long periods of time; say 15 years, which then turns into a 30 year-programme. And what you have today has no resemblance of what you had 15 years ago. Those who are behind all of thes “unfrutiful works of darkness” work in secret behind the “green door”.

Today, guerrilla warfare has gone up another notch, and it affects all spheres of the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. The aggression that they use within it’s own country is no different to the aggression they use without in another country. The end result is that they will steal, kill, and destroy whatever is “good”.

Where I live, the Muslims arrived about five years ago, and now five years later they have built their mosques and are now going to build a school right beside one of the largest AOG churches in our area, and on AOG land.

The guerrilla warfare slogan of today is “WE ARE ONE!”

May our Lord Jesus Christ promise be fulfilled that no weapon formed against HIS CHURCH will prosper and that HE will condemn those spoken words by of those who claim that “WE ARE ONE!”

There isn’t much difference between Military Warfare and Spiritual Warfare, and sad to say, because of the “WE ARE ONE” guerrilla warfare, there hasn’t been much Spiritual Warfare.

Many climb over the parapets and charge across “no-man’s land”, but sadly they leave their “spiritual rifles” and “anointed grenades” at home.

GOD SAVE AMERICA and AUSTRALIA!

And many peacekeepers, and as sad as it is many peacemakers have pulled back and sit in a parked car with the motor running waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ!:)

Sorry, I did not know this was what we were talking about. I thought we were talking about a Christian’s involvement in war.

I don't really think you stopped to think what we were talking about as the discussion was about the methods our military takes in conditioning soldiers.

The OP states, and further clarified, is that she wanted this to be about whether these methods of conditioning soldiers the military takes honors God and the teachings of Jesus. That is what we were discussing.

That was beautifully written and I agree with alot of it but why end that statment by seemingly suggesting that this is a salvation issue?
