  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what kinds of games.

I love strategy games -- Warcraft III, StarCraft, Age of Empires/Mythology.. I also love RPG's: Morrowind is huge, I can't find enough things to do in that game. I'm also getting into FFX.

As for FPS's, Half-Life takes the cake so far (until HL 2 comes out). A close runner up for me would be Rainbow Six: Raven Shield. Helping out with the war against terrorism. =)

The only thing about FPS's is that all you pretty much do is run around and kill everything. They don't take a whole lot of intelligence.

PC gaming is also for the rich/hardcore gamers. It takes a chunk of change and a devotion to gaming to keep up with PC games these days.

FPS owns all. CounterStrike. Max Payne. Unreal Tournament 2003. Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Soon = Max Payne II, Half Life II, CS 2.0/CS Condition Zero. Doom III.

PC gaming is for advanced users; not like toss-in-the-CD/DVD-and-play, as it is with consoles.

Max Payne is 3rd person.

Return to CW... I bought two copys of that, one for me, and one for my brother. I played it for a day or two, then took it back after a week or two. My brother played even less than that.

PC is about to meet its match against Xbox, and future Xbox's.
You have to keep giving out money to keep that PC gaming going. Money for PC, repairs, and alot of games charge you a monthly fee to play, and if you want voice, I think that costs more money.

Xbox, one year fee, games. Thats it.
Plus its a Bill Gates production, pretty soon the government is going to be stepping in to put some restrictions on his console gaming. :p

Games like Castle Wolfy, and Unreal, are like that. Its all about the quick trigger.

But your on PS2, and you don't know all about the Ghost Recon goodness. ;)
Its not about a quick trigger, but about team work, and execution of some well thought out plans. The quick trigger is there in some games, but mostly its about who sees who first. No danceing around, no running around like rambo. Stealth is the major factor.

Trade in that PS2 and get an xbox. :D

Yes Max Payne is 3rd Person Action - it slipped my mind.

Anyways, PCs are WAY more than simply games. They are much better for online gaming for one, they are also for internet browsing, video-editing, movie watching, chatting, offline gaming, etc. etc. Are you coming to CF from your XBOX? Ha, I think not. All my online games are free, unlike the XBOX Live and PS2 online deals. I build my own PCs and repair them myself - no money wasted there.

I know there are some good free online games, and that the PC "can" be better than xbox, depending on your set up.Also were not talking about surfing the net, I did that with dreamcast, thou.

Do you have voice chat on your computer. Does it cost money for chat?
Xbox is standard that every game have chat with it.

If I had the money, I would have a super computer, with everything including chat. But even still xbox is super cheap compared to PC.

Actually I do know about Ghost Recon... I pretty much beat that game months before XBox fans even HEARD about it! I have a good 3d card on my PC so I play a lot of games on there as well. A lot easier to control FPS's with a mouse, anyway. I practically have my own XBox right in front of me.
