i think they can listen to whatever they want. as long as they do not get drawn into the stuff that the songs are dealing with (if it is negative stuff)

i'll give any music a go at least once - with the exception of country music.

my question is, why is it worse to listen to a band that is blantantly against Christianity, than let's say a band that is just beating around the bush about it? what's the difference? as for myself, i'd rather hear someone being honestly against something than beating around the bush and not being fully honest. plus just because a band may be against Christianity, they may still have things that are worth listening to when they don't talk about their views of the religion of Christianity. they may have some very worthwhile, political songs, songs about society, or just great songs that are worth listening too.

as for myself i listen to MUSIC. Christian and non. i listen to a lot of metal/heavy music. i like a little bit of hardcore here and there, but not too much anymore. metal is just way better for me :p but i love the style of metal. some of the Christian bands here in the states do nothing compared to the non-Christian bands either here in the states of let's say over in Europe. i still like the Christian metal scene a lot. just here lately i've been really digging what i've been finding from the European metal scene and some of the metal bands here in the states. i love MUSIC. i believe it is up to the listener/believer to not let things get in their faith that isn't good. some people have bad stories about listening to a certain style of music. that means they shouldn't be listening to, but it's not a universal truth. so as many said here already, i believe it is person to person. and i repeat what Paul said as i always do when i talk about this topic, "Do not burden your brother with your freedom."

it depends on the person... some christians feel guilty listening to any sorta secular music, some feel guilty listening to christian rock or rap even... some christians listen to everything and are not affected... i guess it's really up to you. if you feel guilty listening to secular music, don't listen to it.

personally i listen to everything except black metal (because it's specificaly to bash christianity), pop and country.

We are free to listen to whatever we want to, however, while all things are allowed, not all are beneficial - you've all heard that before. If the music doesn't cause you to be tempted or stumble, I'd say it's fair game. Let the Spirit guide you on your choices.

If you feel that certain music is affecting your walk with Christ, then you should stop listening to it.
Its not clearly spelled out in the Scriptures so we need to make some judgement calls here.
Obviously if a song is full of blasphemy, don't listen to it. If I feel a an "Evil vibe" coming from a song, I won't listen to it. Because, is it going to help me? Most likely not,... if I feel something would hurt me, then there is no reason for me to listen to it and one important Reason for me to stop listening to it.

:p :p phooey on you...

I know I have a lot of nerve doing this since no one here knows me, but I cannot resist. And this is only a joke, no harm is intended at all.

My rule that I go by, is anything that gives you the gut-feeling of "Im your conscience, put the Vader and Nile (im just making a point) cds down, buddy" than its probably a no-no with God. Also, since Im a pretty conservative christian I go with all Christian music(all genres), or secular positive music (all genres, but limited).

There are no rules about music. We are led by the spirit of the law, the holy spirit speaks to our hearts. Follow your conscience. if the spirit is nudging you that something you are listening to is wrong, then stop listening. Dont listen to other peoples opinion they arent in the same place in their walk as you are. Listen to the holy spirit, he will guide you.

Ok, please give some support, biblical, whatever not to just judge 2 entire genre's of music, regardles of mesage even. Sorrie, that post comes over as extremely naif.

you know when something isn't right , the Holy Spirit within makes you feel uncomfortable ....... I walked out of a Judas Priest concert a week ago , I only went to see the Scorpions (who were great) and I did give Judas Priest a listen but , I was outa there ....... their Vibe/spririt was dark.
