• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Wow, aren't we a very sick bunch. Studies have shown, eating a diet of fruits and vegetables helps reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. The reason for this is that fruits and veggies are full of antioxidants. Antioxidants prevent the destruction of body tissue caused by free radicals.

It's difficult for most Americans to get the daily recommended value of antioxidants. This is where people turn to pills and powders. Did God intend on Man getting his/her nutrition from pills or powders?

You can learn better ways to get all the daily recommended value of antioxidants by Googling antioxidant discount to find the best deals.

After you start getting your daily recommended value of antioxidants, make sure to come back here and leave feedback. Whether you choose the natural way or pills/powders, make sure you let everyone know the changes your body feels.

I've had a fair share of things over the years. Like some of you I don't complain much to my husband but I have friends who'll listen and that's good because for me that helps alleviate stress.

I've had IBS diagnosed at age 12.
Gallbladder out in 1987
I have had sebaceous cysts removed
2 lipomas (fat tumors--benign)
Hypertension
Sarcoidosis (you'll have to look that one up...it was a rare disorder at one time). I got it shortly after moving here and for a while the docs thought it was allergy related, a hyper-immune response causing benign tumors to form in lymph glands and inflammation elsewhere. Most people just get the lung lymph node involvement and it goes away on it's own in a few years -- in general.
Colon polyps (4 so far over a 9 year period of time), which THANK YOU LORD!!! Have been benign though I am waiting on the last 2 to be confirmed that way since I only had the test last week; however, the doc wants me back in 5 years so if he was worried that wouldn't have been the case.
I have had left-sided pelvic pain on and off for years and no one has diagnosed it though one doc said it might be IBS related.
Allergies
Fibromyalgia (mild)
Those are the major issues. And I can also Thank the Good Lord that I have insurance!! What a horror it would be otherwise.

Oops, now that I think about it, I totally forgot some of the other issues I take meds for like GERD (acid reflux), and palpitations. I guess you can well imagine that it's hard to be mobile (heck, I have a desk job too) and losing weight is downright impossible because I just don't feel like walking during work and I don't have the energy after dinner.

I've just had appendicitis and was hospitalised last week. Feeling a bit  most of the time but getting better every day. Have been on three different types of antibiotics :D
Well, that didn't help, did it, because Tuesday I got my stomach ache back and had to be hospitalised to have my appendix removed. Happy that it's gone but I'm in pain and a bit tired :help:

Weighing too much may increase your risk for developing many health problems. If you are overweight or obese, you may be at risk for:
  • type 2 diabetes
  • coronary heart disease and stroke
  • metabolic syndrome
  • certain types of cancer
  • sleep apnea
  • osteoarthritis
  • gallbladder disease
  • fatty liver disease
  • pregnancy complications
You may be able to lower your health risks by losing weight, doing regular physical activity, and eating healthfully.

Hey! 7-13 servings of fresh fruits and veggies everyday is what's being recommended now. Over 90% of us don't get that :)

That's why I take Juice Plus+ It's 17 fruits, veggies, and grains in a capsule. It is not a vitamin. It is not a supplement. It's whole food. They juice the fruits and veggies, dry them into a powder, and put them into a capsule/gummies/chewables. It just made complete sense to me, so I'll be taking this for the rest of my life. It's helped me with SO many issues I was having. I'm not healthy yet, but I'm loads better than where I was last year.. and the doctors didn't know a thing about what was wrong with me. I went to a nurse practitioner.

There's actually over 12,000 nutrients in ONE apple!!!! Isn't that crazy????
God totally knew what He was doing!!!! It still apalls me how we try to "fix" something God did.. He created us to eat this stuff..

I have Hep-C but am starting a new experimental treatment on
monday the 19th of Oct. I can't take interferon cause I am bipolar
and interferon makes you depressed and suicidal and not recommended
for people with bipolar disorder. I need a hip replacement eventually
and I am getting fat, cause I can't walk much. other than that, I guess
I have good health. If the Hep-C treatment works OK then I will do
the hip replacement and start to exorcise.:soccer:

Fractured kneecap from a few years back that still hurts to this day. There's a bone fragment in there somewhere. It's led to my signature limp and grumpy demeanour. I've started some new meds for it but they do nothing.

The only upside is that my friends occasionally refer to me as 'House', for the obvious reasons. As a huge fan of House...I like that. :D

since i had a c-section i have been facing stomach ache very often.
have been to many doctors but all in vain.
some said i have STD, some diagnosed PCOD, some said it is psychosomatic pain.
i am now very frustrated and have stopped all sorts of medication and have started herbal treatment for gas.
