Forget "denomanations." Abraham was not United Methodist or General Baptist and Jesus never proclaimed any branch but Himself. Pray to God and ask Him to guide you into all truths. A sect of Christianity does not tell the truth all the time but God does. If we want to serve Him we have to stop serving the "chruch" building and start serving His purpose and His body:clap: . I hope I don't sound mean, I say this in love.

In love,

Take a look at Romans 14:1-8

It speaks of the differences of faith quite clearly, warns us not to bicker and worry with such things and makes no mention of the thought that how you demonstrate your faith determines your heart condition of salvation!

Whosoever believeth in me shall have everlasting life.

Believe, pray..and devolop your relationship with God. The Holy Spirit will lead you where He wants you to be. No matter your denomination, there is only one way to Heaven. Through belief in Jesus. As you grow and mature in faith, you soon realize no matter what denomination you are attending, you will find christians everywhere! :)

I agree with both of those posts completely.
If you do start to go to any one of those churches, let the Holy Spirit guide you in all that you do, and ask about anything they teach that seams to stray from the Biblical text. Ask God for discernment.
One thing I would like to bring out though. Don't let anyone tell you that God does not heal anymore, do miracles anymore, or work in any of the spiritual gifts strongly anymore. I've seen them in action and they can not be refuted.

What is the nature of the body of Christ, is that the question?

There are 2 views that I know of.

The invisible Church model; the most popular. Basically states that all denoms or communes of faithful people are part of the body of Christ.
The faith being practiced and built upon God's revelation of himself through Christ, as attested to in scripture.
Caveats;
The determination of who is in this body or fellowship resides with the believer himself, as convicted by scripture, or as he perceives it in his heart.
The determination of believers is made by the communion based upon their interpretation of scripture. Some are excluded for false interpretations.
Also possibly a manifestation of the grace of God is present.
Some would clame that they make no determination, but everyone chooses a mode of Christianity, some are more inclusive and others are not.

The Church as God's kingdom on earth; States that one communion of faithful believers is the true church. The authority is from prophecy within the communion, and/or scripture determines who is.
Or, scripture plus tradition, apostolic succession, and adherence to those traditions and scripture determine the Church. Plus a manifestation of the grace of God within the church.

All of the above claim that Christ is the head of the Church, and many claim that the Holy Spirit guides the Church, but not all, in the form they have "discovered" for it, or as they claim God has led them to it.

Take your pick, but choose wisely. I would suggest a lot of prayer, and humbling ones self, before doing so.

If anyone in these churches have confessed Jesus as Lord, believe on Him for the forgiveness of their sins and accepted His free gift of salvation. They don't go to heaven for what they have done but for what Christ has done for them.

Whereever you go, commit yourself to making a difference for the positive in that congregation with the good deeds you were anew into. You will find that whereever you go, there will be many that attend but do not do any of the work. Only a small persentage do visitations, helping the poor, or going out to bring in those who are diabled and cannot get to Church without help. There are ministires waiting to have a founder and leader in each congregation.

EPHESIANS 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

HEBREWS 10:24 And let us consider one another how to stimulate and provoke one another to love an, GOOD DEEDS and noble activities. 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I agree wholeheartedly. It does not matter what particular church one goes to, as long as Jesus Christ is the center of your life. If you start in a church and do not see Jesus there (Being taught, worshipped and being First before anything) then I would seek out a church that does. Its not the name on the building, but the name in the peoples hearts! :)

You could say it's kinda like political parties. If someone is a Republican, you can tell at a glance what kinds of things he probably stands for, though certainly he has his own beliefs and doesn't always side with his party. This wouldn't be so bad, if there weren't so many people who disagreed with other parties to the point of getting a negative connotation every time they here its name. "Oh...you're Episcopalian...hmm..."
So basically, they're convienent ("I'm a Baptist" really helps to summarize your beliefs to someone familiar with Baptists) but far too easily misused.

Being a Methodist or a Catholic or a Baptist or a Lutheran or a Presbyterian does not make you a Christian. What makes you a Christian is calling on the name of Jesus and asking Him to forgive you of your sins and asking Him to take over your life.

If we were on a desert island we probably wouldn't have this conversation.

What dictates whether any one of those individuals in those groups get to heavan will be based solely on their faith in Jesus.

Hi there!

Those believers who constitute the "body of Christ" will go to heaven. To be a part of the body of Christ, one must first believe in the redemptive nature of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ taking victory over sin, satan and death.

In knowing that Christ is the only way of redemption and reconciliation to the Father, to become a part of the "body of Christ", one must seek reconciliation with God. That is done by coming to a complete understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That means that one understands that every person has sinned, and the result of that sin is separation from God or eternal death. To be reconciled to God, we have a mediator through Jesus Christ who will forgive our sins and forever be our mediator to the Father. The Word of God tells us that if we "confess with our mouth" in the Christ of Calvary that we will be saved.

The difference between mainstream Christian teachings and the CoJCoLDS is the understanding of who the Christ of Calvary is. That is where the chasm is created.

Do Lutherans, Methodists, Catholics, all go to heaven?

No... not "all Lutherans", not "all Methodists", nor "all Catholics" will go to heaven, only those who a part of the body of Christ as judged in heart and soul by God, and not by the works of baptism or membership, but by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, aka being born again.

Hi there!

I personally like professing "Christians" to actually be saved, born again, and following The Holy Bible in its teachings.

The harsh reality is... those in the CoJCoLDS's do not believe that the Christ of Calvary has the attributes of the trinitarian, tri-une God, therefore when a member of the CoJCoLDS's seeks redemption, it is not in the same Christ, nor are the teachings that lead to that step in salvation's plan true to the Bible.

I don't think you can comprehend the question you asked...

"what kind of Christian should I be?"

There is only one way to be a Christian. One may carry the label all of their life and have that label attached to their person and actions, but if heart isn't tatooed "property of Christ"... they are as lost as ever.

I would ask you to seek the true Christ of Calvary and the redemptive power of that Christ.

God make these promises to us! That if we do believe these things, we are saved! However, I feel IMHO that we should be very careful judging others heart condition. As that God says HE alone can do this. For me, I do not worry about who is not saved, I treat all the same, and try everything against Gods word through prayer. God tells us that All are given the oppourtunity, but many will not be saved.
Many are "called" or invited with the message of repentance (22:14; 21:32), but only those who respond worthily will share the inheritance of the chosen covenant people (also Jeremias 1971:131); compare 7:13-23.

Serapha is so right, there is NOTHING we can do to earn salvation but to have faith, Believe in Jesus Christ -
Hebrews 11
By Faith
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
:)

At that time, we are assured we ARE saved, after that, God binds himself to us through the Holy Spirit. Then we are a member of the Church, The only one that counts! God works with all of us from there. Just give this to God, tell him you are wondering which denomination to start visiting. Let him lead the way. He will!:)

Be the kind of christian that Jesus wants you to be. You dont need to be a part of a denomination. Just try and find a church that you feel you can worship God properly in. ^_^

If you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of you and that he died for you...you will go to heaven...whosoever believes this will go to heaven. It doesn't matter what else they believe, if they have professed and confessed this...they are sealed by God.
