Seems Job would be the proverbial wise man who does all the right things and by proverbial wisdom should be blessed, right? But more was going on than he understood and proverbial wisdom is looked on by many as not a 100% guarantee rather a guideline.

Job: Journey from Moral Man to Wise

Finding meaning in suffering relates to Job
Finding meaning in success and pleasure seems to relate to Ecclesiastes
The various wisdom books balance each other and in ensemble are true

My favourite part is when God tells Job to meditate on the Hippo no one can do that and stay depressed. Simple things please simple minds, good times.

Well actually... it isn't a hippo. maybe you don't believe that the behemoth God was describing a longed neck dinosaur, but it most certainly was not a hippo nor any other animal we know of today ;)

Haha, well whatever it is it's a good distraction for shifting emotions! Whenever I read it I get that hippo singing the lion king song in my head. I guess being taught it was a hippo and being a Disney kid influenced that!

Totally NOT a hippo (how anticlimactic can you get)

I posted this video before but it does a better job of explaining Job than I could. (Apologies in advance for just dumping a video here.)

I've found that few even know what actually happened in that book. Sounds like you are on the right track though :)

Job 10:3
“Why do you, God, take such delight in hating your children, and in blessing sinners?”

I've read it a few times, I've heard there are accounts of Job outside of the Bible and that's where my knowledge stops. I like hanging around here and learning stuff instead :)

Hippos are not "lame". They have their traits. But I don't see how a hippo fits all of the criteria. I'd be more willing to accept that it is was some extinct beast or even consider that it was a mythical one
Hippo just doesn't... fit.
Maybe it is just me, but it takes a lot of artistic license to turn a hippo tail into a tail that moves like a cedar. etc.

anyways... whatever. :)

I should revisit it all I remember from my lessons on it were 'meditate on the hippo' and 'you can't quote everything as truth in Job because what his friends say God points out as wrong'

The interesting thing is that it is Job that says the worst stuff about God until he realizes how wrong he was and repents.
