What are those commandments given to Gentiles? Are we talking just the 2 from Christ or others as well?

What 2 commandments did Christ give to Gentiles?

Here are the ones I was referring to:

Genesis 9:4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. 6 “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”

Acts 15: It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Then you are saying, for Gentiles, the rest of the original ten, as wilful and ongoing sin, is ok, and getting to heaven even if we do those things, is not a problem?

And that is very confusing on the one on food sacrificed to idols when we know perfectly well we we told that's not a problem, that is unless it cause our brother to fall.

Funnily enough, my name, Alexander, is the other side of the coin, namely Greek: Ἀλέξανδρος. It means 'Defender of the people', I believe.

I wear the Gaelic version of Alexander ---- Alastair. And, yes, it means "defender of the people"

Were the original 10 given to Gentiles?

As for food sacrificed to idols, Jesus forbad eating it twice in Revelation 2:14 and 20.

Your view is very strange, in that it seems you are saying there is a different set of rules for different people, while for some reason, a good many of us have drawn the conclusion there is just one set for everyone.

Then you see the confusion.

Which set would those be? The tens (or should I say 'nine?') Your notion that the ten apply to all is not held by the Christian world without some creative theological tap-dancing.

Then you see the confusion.

Either us, Paul, or Jesus. Which one do you pick?

What are the original 10? Revelation refers to the mountains of clay.

Seems to me the commandments given to Moses are the sort of universal things that God writes on the heart of man. Those that apply to God will depend on what one knows about God or what kind of "god" one believes in, but those that apply to man - it's pretty much universally understood by the heart that murder is wrong, adultery is wrong, children ought to respect their parents, and so on.

Like I said, the universality of the laws regarding God will depend on what a person knows about God, or in some cases what kind of "god" he worships.

But most (maybe all?) pagan religions have various holy days. It seems a concept written into the human heart. That was my point.

And Romans 2 speaks of those not having the Law being judged by the law God has written on their hearts. Such universal things as "don't murder" DO apply to all. - If you like, as falling under the 2 greatest commandments per Christ. Love God and love your neighbor.

The ten, c'mon now.

Either us, Paul, or Jesus. Which one do you pick?

Fortunately, not something we need worry about these days.

As in Ezzy, off the rails again.

Keith, From a Scottish surname which was originally derived from a place name, itself probably derived from the Brythonic element cet meaning "wood". This was the surname of a long line of Scottish nobles. It has been used as a given name since the 19th century.
Also "from the battleground".

Sefer and Kathab differentiate in meanings of ‘being written’.

Sefer contains evidence of the written word as to instruction i.e.: the book of SeferTorah ….. God-spoken to assist in relation with Him thru the perfect prince, God’s Son.
Pride, new birth, compares the insufficiency of mankind in contrast to the efficiency of God … as the ability to overcome pride to complete a new beginning.

Katheb as the picture of the 10 commandments is the opening of a covenant that allows for God to include us in His Home and Family.
From Katheb to Sefer shows the progression that moves one from the old covenant to the new, that few people see.

In the final analysis there is nothing new under the same … the old remains in the form of the new. In fact the cube is the form that some believe the tablets were written on, which when seen spiritually reflects perfectly the new Jerusalem.

There was a baby naming ceremony at New York's Central Synagogue this past Friday night. (not unusual) I mention it because of the names. The little girl's English name was Hannah. (already a Hebrew name) But she was given the Hebrew name of Shoshana.
