An Opeth fan on this forum? Oh this is splendid! I am a big fan of Carcass, I enjoy the strong anti-Hippie sentiments.
Death Metal has to be my favorite. I got a Suffocation CD from my brother in Saudi Arabiya and we listened to it all the time but always made sure to not leave the volume increased. When we we went to Tahyma in Tabouk we had sub-woofers installed into our car and increased the volume and went across the open road. It was very fun until it almost flipped the car :D

I had a minute back in 2000/2001 when I was checking into acid trance, acid techno, and psy-trance. Think I ended up mostly with acid techno (Chris Liberator, Dave The Drummer, etc.). When it came to the real psychedellic stuff though:

Hux Flux - Calculus [HQ] - YouTube

Hallucinogen wasn't too bad either - LSD and Orphic Trench were both interesting tunes.

I just linked it in case anybody was interested in what goa sounded like.

Basically anything Dragonfly Records was putting out back in the day. I like older trance a lot, but the commercialized pop variant of it with the stereotypical chick vocals I'm less fond of.

My favorites for older trance, progressive at least, were John '00' Fleming and when Mark EG would go somber with his mixes - something that J00F was pretty consistent with.

I got familiarized with those two at WEMF 2000 and WEMF 2001 (Destiny events near Toronto), these were probably the only festivals where I didn't spend most of the time in the jungle tent/room just because the trance and techno were that legit.

My favourite music is Symphonic Metal like Within Temptation and Nightwish. I love Evanescence too, obviously.

I also really like Progressive and Psychedelic Rock like Pink Floyd, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Rush, and Uriah Heep.

Sometimes I may listen to a little older Country like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, or Johnny Horton.

And if it is on the radio when I scan the dial, I will sometimes listen to a little bit of Top-40 like Ke$ha. I love Ke$ha. XD. I like Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters and Men a lot as well.

I LOVE Symphonic Metal...Nightwish got me started...the main group I listen to now is Derdian...they are from Milano, Italy...and actually my wife is writing 3 books for them based on their first 3 CD's...

Other groups I like are Within Temptation, Thy Majestie, Freedom Call, EdenBridge, Luca Turilli, Rhapsody...there are many more...but those are a few...

Don't tell a broadcasting pastor that. People will believe that metal is really satanic and ban it for sure. XD

TV pastor and megachurches. They are like the Wal-Marts of Christianity, they give out useless cheap products and expect you to come back for more.
The real word of god is in the Bible and not at the pulpit of a man preaching out of his head for a paycheck.

I can't wait to ride my new motorcycle with my brother though. It has a built in MP3 player inside of it. I am gonna fly over a dune screaming Slayer. Besides a couple of broken bones, a concussion, spinal injuries or flying 40 feet face down into the ground I don't think anything bad can happen in the process :D

I wonder why 'Christians,' decided to stick with the religion anyways? Instead of honoring God for who He is.

I have read the Bible in 2 languages and I saw no verse declaring living dangerously as a sin. :D

I picked rock, but a lot of what I like would be better defined as "alternative" than rock, but are closer to rock than any of the other choices. I also like punk, which would certainly qualify as rock.

Back to my favorite genre, I'd much rather hear more of this again and a little less dubstep.
Not to blast it, just that too many people are jumping ship on dnb. Dark/murky dubstep is alright but it can't hold a candle to dark drum n' bass in my opinion.

If you like dark DnB (not sure if that's a subgenre, or the same thing as techstep or neurofunk -- stuck in the 90's haha) you might like this:

Cybernetika - Colossus (Full Album) [HQ] - YouTube

Cybernetika does a mixture of stuff, has albums uploaded on ektoplazm dot com for free, often mixes psytrance with DnB.

Yeah, I see they're bringing in the psy off the neurofunk angle. Seems legit, I'll look into it.

As for 'dark' yeah, its more of a descriptor. The late 90's were actually when I got into it, 1997-99 were prime time for what was commonly referred to as dark rolling techstep which is what really drew me in. Sounded like absolutely nothing else, I think the only time where they kind of regrouped that same ambiance was late 2000's.
