I selected Feudal Japan (1185 to 1694), although that's actually a bit after my era of choice.

I'm particularly interested in Heian Era Japan, which ran from 794 to 1185. There was a lot of literature written by women that came out of that period, including The Tale of Genji, a novel written by the Lady Murasaki, The Diary of Lady Murasaki, The Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon (another diary), and many other memoir/diary books written by women. Most of the literature that came out of this period was written by upper-class women, since that was considered a "womanly" thing to do. The diaries are full of humor, and make fur really excellent reads. I highly recommend them if you can find a good translation.

Aztecs. Hey, could you give me a coat? No, no, not that one. I don't want my mom on my back all day long.
I don't quite get it. did the aztecs make coats out of people?

For developing a technology and a culture without any outside helps or influences, the accompishments of the Mayas and Aztecs are impressive.
In terms of their buidlings of pyramids, (and that of the Egyptians as well), are there any good theories upon how they were able to do so without modern technology? (I listen to coasttocoastam at work, so I sometimes need a good dose fo reality when it comes to these matters).

Their priest did. They ate thier flesh too. Yeah, maybe the Aztecs aren't my favorite. Although they came up with their own version of basketball, they didn't come up with sportsmanship. The losers died. I imagine with the Aztecs it would be just as bad if the losers were invited over for dinner.

I would have liked being Judah protecting Benjamin from Joseph.

Non Biblical I would have liked to be one of the Saxet falls people who made their dwelling in rocks and caves up and down a 100 foot fall with fresh clean water misting on their plants 24 hours a day. They lived by a rope system on the fall cliffs where they could go up and down. They ate birds, goats and things that came on the falls and there were great pools at the top of the falls filled with unlimited seafood, they just dipped their nets and scoopped them out.Their cropps never failed for lack of water and there was always a rainbow to see.No light polution and they spent their nights mapping out stars, everything they needed was at their grasp. They made bronze pipes to heat the water from the falls to take heated showers. There was no theft,no crime, women walked around topless and they lived peacefull for 420 years until the Slarebil came and wiped them out. What a waste of a perfect people.

I would like to go with the Vikings, but they are not ancient, so I say Indian, with a strong emphasis on the people who first settled in the Indus valley. I would love to learn more about the earliest people groups. The ones that migrated into China, into the Indus valley, into central Asia, and into Europe.

I think the people you refer to are the Aryans, and I agree, it would be very interesting to learn more about these prehistoric migrations, and the extent of their influence on the civilisations that have come after.
