Regeneration (palingenesia) is a Biblical word (Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23), which means it is not unnecessary, right?

I think Titus 3:5 refers to water baptism.

Yeah, you are right. Nothing wrong with the word ...

It's the Reformed use of the word "regeneration" I don't agree with.

I heard of a man who they say always called a spade a spade,-----------until he dropped it on his foot!
There was a fellow named Doug who was holding a spade. After someone took his spade away from him he was known as Douglas.

I think Titus 3:5 refers to water baptism.
It refers to baptism, which is a sign of rebirth, a sign of dying with Christ and rising to new life (rebirth) with him (Romans 6:3-4) .
It's the Reformed use of the word "regeneration" I don't agree with.
Its definition is (spiritual) rebirth.

How do they use it?

Regeneration through infant baptism is Roman Catholic theology.

Romans does not present baptism as regeneration itself, it presents baptism as a sign of it.

My jokes never get any better. :)

He was predestined to be named Douglas, and so he had no choice other than to have his spade taken from him.

The unsuccessful Scottish hunter went out into the fog and mist.

Therefore, he was predestined to be unsuccessful so why did he bother?

It takes a special kind of talent to unashamedly tell jokes that bad. . .

You reap whut you sow. :preach:
A bit of humour is good to cool down a thread to stop it going overboard like Jonah, who actually had a whale of a time after that.

That must if have been it.
If I'd have said his name was Dug, and when he lost his space he was renamed "Dugless" would that have made more sense to you?

There's hope for me after all. It only took an hour but I finally got it.
