What is with all the hate on Ellena White

Ellena is what we call her in spanish, I am not to familiar with enlgish terms or names.

I am extremely shocked to see so many SDA's disrespect and neglet and criticize Ellena's writtings. I am not sure if you all have noticed, but what they did to Jesus is what you are doing to Ellena. It seems that anytime someone says they are being used by God everyone gets on the defensive and starts to criticize that person. Do you agree that we are all being used by God in one way or another? Do you agree that noone is perfect? If so, then why hate on Ellen so much?

I agree. Without Ellen our church would hardly be what it is today. She helped structure our church. You don't have to believe she is a prophet, but her books are inspired and they do bring encouragement, to all denominations. Yet she is teased among Adventists. I really don't understand either Dasdream.

Ellen White was more than a prophet. She was a messenger of God who prepare the way for the Lord.

I hope everyone follows the thread on the Sanctuary study because it proves only a divine mind could have written these works.

Rev 12:17 & 14:12 tells us the last remnant keeps the law and have the spirit of prophecy. Ellen White is not the author of Spirit of Prophecy. Jesus is. You take away the spirit of prophecy, you take away the remnant and the remnant movement. So this is actually an attack on Jesus Christ.

What is important is what she teaches, she has written alot of good stuff. My question was why do people hate her? is it because they are too ignorant to admit they are wrong? My grandmother has alot of books from her and even she admits she does not agree with everything, but what she does not agree with, she knows are areas she needs to work on.

Peer pressure. They've seen that the rest of Christendom labels her a false Prophet and they don't want to be different.

No hate involved in my question, but she is one of the reasons I'm not a Seventh day adventist. That and the fact that you all think Jesus has been in some room since 1844 sorting out sins. Couldn't he do that in one second?

According to Ramik's report, "Based upon our review of the facts and legal precedents, we conclude that Ellen G. White was not a plagiarist and her works did not constitute copyright infringement/piracy."

She indeed quoted other sources for her history, but professional examination has debunked the plagiarism rumor.

It's interesting to note that Ramik is supposedly a Roman Catholic and no doubt was aware of Ellen White's position on the Papacy, which not only shows that there was no clear bias, but also speaks to this lawyer's integrity.

Another part of my book talks about rumors and you are giving me an example. You are judging Ellen by what you heard from others. Read some of her books, with a nmind set willing to learn. I'm confused about the whole 1844 thing.

I've always thought that churches should keep the seventh day Sabbath but I see people from other denominations saying that there are no "10 commandments" according to the original Hebrew.

I'm venturing to guest most of them are messianics. I understand why they say that.

The 10 commandments are defined specifically in Exodus 20. They were written down by the finger of God on Mount Sinai on 2 stone tablets.

The 10 commandments are eternal laws that actually reflect Christ's character. Jesus summerized into 2 parts: 1-4 are our duty to God: love God; 5-10 are our duty to man: love your fellowman.

The 10 commandments were given long before Mount Sinai.

1 John 3:4 ...for sin is the transgression of the law.

Romans 3:20 ...for the law is the knowledge of sin...

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.

If the devil sinned from the beginning, then the 10 commandments must already been in effect from the beginning. Indeed, because they are the transcript of Christ' character which is eternal.

The bible is explicit about the 10 commandments' existance before mount Sinai, but we can see evidence of them:

The sabbath commandment was given after creation: God rested on the 7th and made it holy.

Cain sinned when murdered Abel.

When Abraham sojourned the land of Gerar, Abimelech the king of Gerar took his wife Sarah. God appeared to Abimelech in a dream to warn him not to sin:

Gen 20:6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

And in Gen 35, the strange gods were put away from the house of Jacob.

So the 10 commandments weren't spelled explicitly, the principles were already made clear prior to mount Sinai.

After the children of Israel came out of Egypt, they didn't speak the paleo-Hebrew. They had forgotten all the ways of God. That was one of the reasons they couldn't enter into the promise at once. They had to rid themselves of all the paganism they adopted from the Egyptians. So much so, that right at the foot the Mount Sinai when Moses was on the Mount to meet God, the children of Israel committed all sorts of sins. Moses expanded on the 10 commandments to close all the possible 'loop holes'.

That's like you have the constitution, the upper case law. But then state and local laws were added. Even the traffic laws later, to prevent people looking for loop holes.

Paul in Galatians 3 talked the law of Moses was added 430 years after the promise was made to Abraham because of the transgression. Paul said the law of Moses had met its purpose when Jesus came and we are no longer under the law of Moses. This was also confirmed by the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15.

So the messianics today contend that there weren't 10 commandments but 613 commandments because they are still zealous for the law of Moses.

And those that don't keep the sabbath say Jesus gave two commandments only: love God and love your neighbor.

But Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments as I have kept my father's commandments.

Paul said in Hebrews 4 there remains a 7th day rest (shabbat) for the people of God.

And Isaiah 66 says all the redeemed will continue to worship God on Sabbath.

That is a very good question that has been asked about EGW

It is an issue that is not so easy to deal with.

EGW is no longer with us and even those who heard her preach, most of them are now gone as well.

All the questions that we now want to ask her cannot be asked.

Part of the problem is that many in the past have held EGW as being a perfect saint ( and she was, the same way as each one of us are perfect, perfect in Jesus Christ), never sinning and can do no wrong.

We now know that EGW was not like that at all.

It is a bit too much of a shock for some to take.
