Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not [a]help the poor and needy. --
    (NASB)

Most people think homosexuality was the big problem in Sodom, but they were wrong. According to this verse, like sister Sodom, the quilt was in their ability and abundance they lack compassion.

Today you hear of laws being passed that it is against the law to give to the needy whether it be food, clothing, money, or shelter. New ordinance would make passing food, money to panhandlers illegal in Fresno

A lot of Christians don't love God and the Bible clearly says, there's nothing in between, either you love or hate God. If you hate God, you are not yet saved / never been saved.

    1 John 3:17-18
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

What an awesome post, very informative. I've been the very product of an entire church not caring about what was happening to me right in front of them. My parents paid the gay piano player to take me home and keep me. He did just that. Age 14. No one in the church ever questioned it, nor tried to help my parents from making the biggest mistake of their lives. No one ever showed any concern that something really crazy was happening to me. I didn't get it....I was so lost and confused. They didn't know it, but that church was manufacturing a person who wanted to kill himself and just about everyone around him. The Head Elder was my own Uncle. No one has ever talked about what happened to me until I was 48.5 years old. I began to heal and talk about what happened....100% of every family members and friends are gone.

The thing is, is that the people of that church are so wonderful and amazing! Two things: Nearly all of humanity is suffering from hardened hearts and two, we have been taught a gospel that does not include true Love. God is Love. We cannot say that we love God if we won't take care of our own children. We have been deceived and have been under and incredibly false system for a long, long time. We all must wake up and recognize what's going on around us.

We're busy worshiping our bodies with sex and abuse of many forms....having completely lost focus on the fact that we have a creator that made these very bodies, bodies made for the Lord and the Lord for the Body. We just don't understand what is really going on. I'm doing my part.

You have taken one verse out of this whole chapter to try to make a point that is not there. Sodom in this passage is the nation of Judah. God likens their sinful practices to that nation He judged. The whole passage is addressed to Jerusalem the capital of Judah. 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 3 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: “Your birth and your nativity are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. The prophecy never shifts to speak of historical Sodom.

I'm interested in what you're saying as it sounds like you know what you're talking about....and I believe you.

I thought he was making a simple correlation between the kind of sin that was going on in S&G and how pretty much the entire package is most similiar to where we are in America, but I've certainly been wrong before. I think someone recently tried to pass a bill that we could have sex wit h animals if we so choose? Eh....that was hearsay. It seems that the pinacle of his point is that we have been essentially brought up in an apostate "christian" sytstem that is without God's Love. The Catholic's Jesus is the Christian's Holy Spirit. Leave out one third of the Godhead and you get 66.66666666667% which seems weird to me.

I doubt aiding fugitives being a crime is anything new. How many times in history people have been persecuted and during those times it is very likely that law has been against any aid to be given to such people.

I may be wrong, but I think the OP is talking about the wrath of God and how they were used as warnings for us. The OP is sharing this warning....graciously.

[1Co 10:3-11] 3 All of them ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 6 These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, 7 or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, "The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry." 8 And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day. 9 Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. 10 And don't grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. 11 These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

HI If you look up and read the entire passage that is a good place to start and his comment was trying to say that the sexual sin of Sodom was not the reason they were judged. His quote is trying to say they were at ease and did not care to help the needy is the sin of Sodom. if you look up the word Sodom withe a concordance it shows up quite a few times and it is often used for backsliding Judah or already judged Israel. You have to understand that Israel was one nation under David and Solomon but after Solomon the nation was divided and Israel had 10 tribes and Judah 2. The capitol of Israel was Samaria and the Captiol of Judah is Jerusalem. Now Jude in the new testament makes clear why Sodom was destroyed back in Genesis
as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Note the sexual sin is mentioned and not the being well off and not helping the needy.

Point is that although it had obvious sins that gave its "nickname" God was furious at the lack of compassion.

Context is everything. I've seen this same error preached in Messianic Congregations, maybe not knowingly supporting gay rights but it does nonetheless. The perversion that was going on in Sodom and Gemmorah is obvious in the text. The men practically broke down the door to Lot's house to get at the 'fresh meat', obviously not recognizing the Angels that had accompanied G-d to visit Abraham and forewarn him of the disaster to come.

Many also don't understand that when Abraham 'bargain' with the L-RD that it was similar to the days of Noah. It had come down to only one 'righteous' man', Lot. Now with the bits we know of Lot, he wasn't all that much of a Tzadik, He took what he saw as the best of the land when they parted, and it is possible since he was living in Sodom that he had given up his life as a shepherd, a nomad and was a city dweller. He must have held a high position in the city as we see him sitting at the gate of the town when the angels arrive.

I think by saying he was 'righteous' meant that he was not gay, but all the others in that town were. If that were the case even if the L-RD didn't destroy them, the town would have died off eventually.

Heaven won't be crowded. Many will be disappointed that they aren't quite the "Masters" they thought they were.

If all True Believers have the same Spirit, the Mind of Christ, and if there are only but a few "Christians", here, that are in agreement with each other, the vast majority haven't a clue as to what they're talking about, which means that the vast majority are deceived. But, good luck in trying to convince even one of them of such.

So, it appears that all will be right and all will be wrong. No unity, here, whatsoever.

There was no belittling the "abomination" of the sin by my comments. Sometimes the glaring obvious cause the overlooking of another factor.
