I would agree. We have to see "truth" in it's categories:Truth is of such great importance that i think we need to break it down a little more, although i'm in agreement with you ebedmelech. I see you like Jn.17:17, mine favorite passage is Jn.14:6, anyway have to break out the ol' Interlinears:
Truth: no article, meaning Truth more in general: The reality of God's will, purpose, and plan centered in Christ Jesus, for our salvation including the THREATS, JUDGMENTS (including preliminary), and the saving promises embodied int he word of God in Truth. The Truth: article, meaning the ENTIRE SAVING REALITIES conveyed by the Word of God in Truth centered in the Lord Christ Jesus, God-man that is. Your already aware that Jesus is the actual embodiment of the Truth, but let an ol' man bring this forth again, as music to my ears. Thank you for your patience and all the former refutable and correctable of course, IITim.3:16.
I would agree. We have to see "truth" in it's categories:
There is "spiritual truth" - That would be truth according to God's word and how it relates to us in our lives.
There's truth from the secular viewpoint as Webster defines in this link:
Truth - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
That would be my perspective. I reject "relative truth", which is prominent in society today.
If you can measure God, you can measure truth and in the process we become measured, being a son/daughter/offspring/children of our father.
Truth, as one fellow put it, is a train without a caboose.
In society, meaning the organized church ?
We always have to keep in mind, that as saints, we're operating on earth as "strangers and pilgrims"...so even though we're "in society" we think and operate from God's perspective...not the world...therefore it makes no difference because we are of God.
