It is this technic of YEC, particularly AiG and ICR, to radically polarize the Church into YEC and not-YEC. With the new campaign-‘Operation: Refuting Compromise.’ they are making the logically error of: evolution==atheism into a social-political campaign of dividing the Church along the lines of Genesis 1 interpretation.

In a sense, they are victims of their own propaganda, they along with many YEC's (as we can see on the board here) make the set of reasonings: old earth=>evolutionary=>atheism so smoothly that they themselves are simply unaware of the confusion.

Science is not atheism, science can be extended into the realm of metaphysics, with a principle of sufficiency, that creates a scientism. But this scientism is not science, it is metaphysics and as such has transgressed the boundaries of science and is no longer science. That is what Dawkins, SJG, Dennett have done, created a metaphysics, and by extension a world view that relies on evolutionary science, but is itself not science.

Neither side likes the middle, both would desire to exclude the middle entirely, emptying the discussion of all compromise and radically polarize the whole thing into US vs THEM:
religion=faith=YEC....science=reason=evolutionary material worldview

as such they make strange but rather similiar sounding bedfellows.
