Since you capitalized it, I'm assuming you mean the Catholic Church.
The purpose of the Church is to 1) be the unifying body of all Christians and 2) to carry on the teachings of Jesus, as defined in the Gospel of Matthew when Jesus instructs Peter to found his Church.
