Well to be honest I feel like God had the right idea there. The creation of life was a mistake and it should all be annihilated.
Now he seems to want to play some sort of game with people.
I think all of our anger, worry, and confusion, always comes from a place of not knowing the truth. It stems from, "Why is all of this happening?" and "Why are things the way they are?" And it is always because of the calamities we see and feel that gets us asking these questions.
But notice how when things are going well for us, and we are content and happy with our lives and circumstance, we never feel the need to ask such questions and therefore we avoid seeking the truth. We think, "We have it all right now, this is all we need, this is what life is all about."
But life is not all about pleasure, and it is not all about ourselves.
Many people in the world are suffering because the people who have all the pleasure in their lives don't care about anything else but themselves, because they are content with what they have. Nothing has happened yet to wake them up and cause them to wonder what life is all about.
They don't know God, and don't understand that God, who is Love, is Righteous and Just, and He cares about all the people on earth. Those who are suffering can use people's help as they have the physical means to provide for those who are starving, for example.
God is a Spirit, and His Spirit works in people to accomplish His will on earth. Yet at the same time, everyone, even born again Spirit-filled believers have a free will to choose whether or not they will serve God or themselves. God's Will is always accomplished through people who are willing to offer themselves up to do His Will instead of their own. That is why Jesus told us to deny ourselves and follow Him. And He also told us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and widows and orphans, do justice and hate evil. It is not God's Will that man be selfish, self-seeking, and ignorant, but man's preoccupation with themselves. So the state the world is in today is not because of God, but man.
Jesus said, "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." (Revelation 3:17-18)
Here Jesus is talking to a "lukewarm" church who He is about to spit out of His mouth if they do not repent. Why? Because they were too busy caring for themselves, while allegedly worshiping God. And God Himself came to them and said they are wretched. White clothes represents righteous deeds. Those people were doing nothing for God. And God was not pleased.
As we see here there is no middle ground.
The problem that people have with believing that God is good is because there are many professing Christians that do not actually believe and they have caused many people to reject Christ because of their behavior. Notice in the above passage that Jesus said, "I counsel you to buy from me gold..." Gold represents faith. Many Christians these days have believed this lie from hell that they cannot lose faith. That is not true, they can, and they will lose it if they don't keep it by hearing and doing. And as we see here, we can also increase our faith as well. Faith without works is dead.
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)
May God help us all.
