Someone else mentioned Steppenwolf and Hesse books. I read a lot of those and really enjoyed them before I was saved. I don't think I would recommend them any more though, because they definately helped lead me into occultism. Siddhartha being my case in point.

The most moving book besides the Bible that I have ever read was The Black Trilogy by Ted Dekker. Books include, Black, Red, and White. I have never ever ever got so in touch with the characters. I was so sad to see it end and I long for the day when he might pick up after White. Leaves a lot of confusion there.

For the Life of the World by Alexander Schmemann

For fiction, I'd have to say The Songs of Distant Earth by Arthur C. Clarke. The final chapter is one of the most evocative bits of literature I've ever read, inspiring in me a kind of melancholy nostalgia coupled with a profound sense of loss and yet not at all without hope. If that makes no sense, read the book and you will understand. ;)

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Yes, that and all other Jane Austen novels. They are all great.
For me, one of the most moving novels I have read is Empire of the Sun by JG Ballard. It is a powerful enough as a story, but it is also semi-autobiographical... moving stuff.
Another of my favourites is Jane Eyre, not any particular part, but it just makes you think.
