if you don't cry fifty million times whilst reading LOTR or the count of monte cristo... then you're a fish.

Then I guess I'm a fish

Probably because I was young at the time, but the only book that's really hit me was an old version of Robin Hood (can't remember which author). The end with Robin Hood being betrayed and killed by his cousin was one of the sadder things I've ever read.

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom.

I still need to read The Five People You Meet In Heaven.

WOW!!! I so agree with you. Tuesdays with morrie is incredible! It should be required reading. I fell in love with the characters and it made me look for hte Morrie in my life. I have found her. If you haven't read it READ IT!

There are quite a few that moved me. The Harry Potter series, mainly book 4 and 5. Then there's a few books by Bill Myers that moved me, such as Blood of Heaven, Soul Tracker, and most of all, Eli.

Eli was a really wonderful book IMO. A few books from the Left Behind series have also moved me.

Faulks' Birdsong sticks in my mind - I'll never forget the final image. Cormac McCarthy's Cities of the Plain broke my heart, too. I couldn't sleep all night when I finished it; I was devastated.
