Paul describes their spiritual dimness as a veil over their eyes.
You should recognize this verse as well. "So they know in part and not in fullness." (from 1 Cor.13)
Those who consider that they are familiar with the scriptures such as yourself.. might well appreciate the lack of chapt&verse all of the time and rather a straight quote.
The text (of the veil over their eyes) that you surely recognize is about how their understanding must be enlightened in Christ. Again a quote.
The same thing can occur with any Christian who reads the Bible and uses their own understanding concerning whatever they read. Their mistaken interpretations (Peters epistle where he used the phrase "private interpretation") and the similar in the Proverbs "Lean not to your own understanding") I've given enough here so you can look it up yourself if you wish to verify.
.. have to be removed by Christ- the anointing- (still using the veil over the eye verse) so thereby to know- gain revelation (another verse from Peter) knowledge about all things that pertain to life and godliness.
The more you rightly discern or know, the more you grow in Christ. [This is my own on the spot phrase conclusion] that is in line with the whole of my statements.
